Salaries and funding are improving. The Juniata program isn't going anywhere, despite the negativity of others.

Does anyone think Rutgers will have success now that they are DIII? Or will they continue to be a sub-par program?

When pafan says Rutgers lost their upperclassmen, he meant upperclassMAN. His name was Brett. They had a sparsely used junior and the bulk of that team was freshman and sophomores. With another handfull of players coming in, they are essentially a 3rd year program, and by that standard, yes, they will be competitive, maybe 3rd in that conference.
I say Juniata's new facilities will be a godsend, because everything I hear says that they've been running on fumes. I've heard past players completely rip every coach they've had since Larry, the facilities are sub par, the budget reportedly is mediocre, the school is in the middle of nowhere, and their recruiting base has a lot more traffic than the old days, but they've still won a truck load of championships and are consistently a top 5 team with a shot at the title next year. I'm clearly in the category of "I just don't understand." That said I'm not holding my breath for them to fall to where logic suggests they "should" be.

Facilities subpar ? Ever been to Theil? Naz ? They are junior high gyms. Juniata is aged but one of the few D 3 schools that has an actual arena.
Juniata is good because Pavlik recruits standing reach instead of volleyball players. PA has a lot of talent. Juniata and Stevenson get most of it. Same as Carthage in the Great Lakes.

Speaking of facilities, who has the best facilities? I really like Tarble Arena at Carthage. Vassar College has their own volleyball facility in Kenyon Hall. I also kind a like NYU's and Springfield ( minus the low ceiling). Anything else?

emerson college has a really cool gym. not very big, but very modern/beautiful. I like stevens techs gym, quality with plenty of space. always always always hated NYUs, way too much space that weirds out depth perception, too much atmospheric noise, and the size of the facility with everything else going on makes the match relatively unimportant.
vassars gym needs new tiles on the sport court, they are starting to warp up. but it is pretty cool how the only lines in the gym are volleyball lines. indirect lighting is definitely a plus, and that giant banner in the corner is dope. vassar also has a gym for just varsity athletes that is in the volleyball building; teams like basketball have to walk up to the main facilities after a lift.
love juniatas arena/bowl set up. worst gym in D3 has got to be springfield, right? that ceiling is hell. Ramapos is nice but a little bit too big. impossible to fill. naz is kinda ugly but they have a very intimate/crowd friendly set up which has got to be considered a plus.
carthage's gym is probably the best of the bunch. with the one note that it would be really tough to fill.

Juniata has great arena with great atmosphere.
Kean gym is an experience in itself. Wonderful place to play.
Stevens Tech lighting makes it one of my least favorite places to play.
Baruch gym is killer. NYC underground vibe is awesome

Rivier used to be the worst gym. Don't know if they've redone it lately, but it used to have a super low ceiling with the airconditioning ducts hanging down. Dig the ball higher than 20 feet and you hit something. Brutal.
