Agreed. After all, there were only 5 projected 2014 seniors, originally. 3, actually. Dom had a medical redshirt year in there, too.

It looks like they may be thin in the middle in 2017, so I am wondering if they will move someone there at some point down the line, but I am also of the opinion that if you can get good players, you get them. No one has a crystal ball to know how good players will be several years down the line, but with the way things are going, it is probably better to get commitments earlier rather than later.

Bucky, et al-
I guess what strikes me the most about this current discussion is the absolute sea change in tone and conversation between this year and last. Sure, when Kelly came aboard, there was incredible (and justifiable) excitement and the results achieved by the staff and players this past year had to far surpass ANYONE'S expectations. Now, the conversation shifts to middles for 2017? Really? Is this simply a need to try and match the story (I find it silly) about the 2017 ds/libero signing at PSU? While I am all for looking down the road and getting excited about the future, you would think that the out of left field experience for the Badgers last year would temper any thoughts of looking too far into the future.
Enjoy the team, the program and the here and now. It's 2014. Enjoy THIS season. It's the only one the girls, your student body, supporters and family's are promised and should be focused on. Let the recruiting coordinator and Coach Sheffield worry about the future.

This really has nothing to do with anything PSU is doing. It gives us something to talk about until tomorrow night, when Sheffield has his meet and greet and will probably discuss how things are going with this year's team, and Saturday, when I think we are all excited to be attending the scrimmage. Lots of things can happen, as Wisconsin fans are well aware, but I think how quickly Sheffield has been able to get verbals which would fill his available scholarships is a source of comfort to Badger fans. Sheffield has talked about how the goal of the program is to be good on a yearly basis, and obviously landing recruits who the staff thinks will become good college players is part of that.

I don't follow the PSU program at the player level. I know they are good, they will always be good, and they get the best players. Sure, there are 12 scholarships projected to be filled for 2017. There will probably be 12 scholarship players then. Will they be the ones on this list? Doubtful. Considering the 2014 class has 5 scholarship seniors, with two that should have graduated in 2013 that is a good illustration. And as far as the "sea change" in tone, several of us devoted fans have been optimistic each season, only to be disappointed. Those optimists are the ones who stuck with this board. The pessimists left a couple years ago. And honestly, there is not much to talk about going into the 2014 season. We've discussed it ad nauseum for the last 9 months. Only thing left for 2014 is to discuss the matches.

I saw another "Bingo" on the Badger website posted at about 2:00 p.m. Perhaps it is for Loberg

Updated. Looks like the 2017 scholarship class is finished. 2014: Julie Mikaelsen (2014), Dom Thompson (2014), Courtney Thomas (2014), Deme Morales (2014), Ellen Chapman (2014), Taylor Morey (2015), Romana Kriskova (2015, 6'3 OH/RS), Lauren Carlini (2016), Haleigh Nelson (2016), Tori Blake (2016), Taylor Fricano (2017), Kelly Bates (2017, 5'10 OH) {12} 2015: Taylor Morey (2015), Romana Kriskova (2015), Lauren Carlini (2016), Haleigh Nelson (2016), Tori Blake (2016),Taylor Fricano (2017), Kelly Bates (2017), Julia Saunders (2018, 6'4 OH), Brooke Morgan (2018, 6'5 MB), Hannah Juley (2018, 5'11 S), Tionna Williams (2018, 6'2 OH/MB), Madison Duello (2018, 6'2 OH) {12} 2016: Lauren Carlini (2016), Haleigh Nelson (2016), Tori Blake (2016), Taylor Fricano (2017), Kelly Bates (2017), Julia Saunders (2018), Brooke Morgan (2018), Hannah Juley (2018), Tionna Williams (2018), Madison Duello (2018, 6'2 OH), M. Who might that be? And did we determine (guess) that Dodd actually isn't?

Who might that be? And did we determine (guess) that Dodd actually isn't? I don't believe that's how it works. The Steve Lowe scholarship, I always understood, was a separate scholarship, not one of the 12. I'm not sure how much it's for, but the Athletic Department website says they only have ~$110k in endowed VB scholarhsips and need ~$9.7mil more to fully endow all 12 NCAA schollies. My rough math it costing about $820k to fully endow one full NCAA scholarship. We're nowhere near there. It's probably just extra money to help cover expenses, and possibly help with the extra semester most of the VB players wind up doing. supportthebadgers.athletics.wisc.edu/endowments/endowSport.aspx?abbr=vbRE: Dodd - Yeah, I think we determined that she is probably a walk-on because Sheffield is still quietly recruiting for 2016. Updated list based on the above: 2014: Julie Mikaelsen (2014), Dom Thompson (2014), Courtney Thomas (2014), Deme Morales (2014), Ellen Chapman (2014), Taylor Morey (2015), Romana Kriskova (2015, 6'3 OH/RS), Lauren Carlini (2016), Haleigh Nelson (2016), Tori Blake (2016), Taylor Fricano (2017), Kelly Bates (2017, 5'10 OH) {12} 2015: Taylor Morey (2015), Romana Kriskova (2015), Lauren Carlini (2016), Haleigh Nelson (2016), Tori Blake (2016), Taylor Fricano (2017), Kelly Bates (2017), Julia Saunders (2018, 6'4 OH), Brooke Morgan (2018, 6'5 MB), Hannah Juley (2018, 5'11 S), Tionna Williams (2018, 6'2 OH/MB), Madison Duello (2018, 6'2 OH) {12} 2016: Lauren Carlini (2016), Haleigh Nelson (2016), Tori Blake (2016), Taylor Fricano (2017), Kelly Bates (2017), Julia Saunders (2018), Brooke Morgan (2018), Hannah Juley (2018), Tionna Williams (2018), Madison Duello, M. Maybe that's it. I still don't quite understand the scholarship rules. Can you get an academic scholarship full ride and then walk on?
Looks like TC in the background of that photo, which is interesting because it is from 2012 or earlier. And, maybe, possibly Nelson. (just a disembodied head)

The Carlinis and the Nelsons could have been on campus as part of their daughters' official visits.
