Watched many movies on the plane: Official Secrets: based on real life events. Keira Knightly plays Katharine Gunn, the employee of the British GCHQ (spy org) who leaked a classify memo from the CIA asking them GCHQ to listen in on the Security Council members and provide any info that would give the US and UK leverage in the upcoming vote to authorize the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Good thriller, but at times I just wonder if it really happened as portrayed in the movie (seemed like the entire intelligence community was against the war). Angel Has Fallen: Gerard Butler returned as Secret Service agent Mike Bannings who was framed for trying to assassinate the POTUS. Could guess who framed him immediately, but the action and story was fun to watch nonetheless. Nick Nolte appears as Mike’s estranged father...and their experience was strange but fun. Zombieland: Double Tap...Fun. Don’t need to say any more...just a very fun movie. Think there is another, but I forget. I enjoy the original Zombieland and seem to re-watch it every year or two. Haven't seen Double Tap yet. Have you seen the original? If so, do you prefer one over the other? Thanks for the reviews!

A Simple Favor
This film can’t decide if it’s a comedy or a drama. Anna Kendrick is in it so they must’ve wanted comedy with some drama mixed in. Doesn’t work. Kendrick is so annoying. But one thing this film has done is reaffirmed my love for French pop music. LOL!

Been awhile since I saw the original. Probably will dust off the disc and watch it again. All I remembered about the original was that it’s better than expected.

I confirmed: I have never seen anything with Anna Kendrick in it. Pitch Perfect trilogy was fun, though was less fun as each movie was released. But I do love that all the actors, including Anna Kendrick, sang the songs themselves. Kendrick was the supporting actress in Up In The Air with Clooney. That was a good one too.

It: Chapter Two...mixed feelings about it. Sure it’s a movie based on Stephen King’s book but I hated the ending, just like the writer in the movie. Maybe that was the point, to write a book with a terrible ending.

Maybe that was the point, to write a book with a terrible ending. I enjoyed both of the IT movies. Great CGI and decent balance of atmosphere and jumpscares. I don't usually worry about plot stuff in horror but the ending was a little strange. They both dragged on a little as well.

They both dragged on a little as well. I certainly enjoyed the first one, and I guess I forgot how it ended from the first It movie (never read the book) that made me feel disappointed.

Ad Astra Near future. Astronaut. Brad Pitt. Um, what about it? I'm guessing you just watched it? I heard it was pretty bad, but that info was coming from science/space people, not movie critics.

Halfway through. Stopped and started watching something else. I'll eventually finish it. I've seen movies like this before where the story is ostensibly about the search for alien intelligence (or some other scientific discovery) but it's actually about the search for self via a lost family member, see, e.g., Contact.

Finally got around to watch Joker and it was very interesting how they tried to tie everything into the DC Universe.

Happy Death Day (2017)
Girl gets stuck in a time loop and has to solve her own murder. Has been done often (and better) in film and TV. Still, I'm a sucker for time loops. Entertaining even if not a masterpiece.

has to solve her own murder Reminds me of a movie (I think called DOA) where (IIRC) Harrison Ford was running around asking people "Did you murder me?" He had been given some poison or something that was going to kill him, but he wanted to avenge himself before he died. Something like that. (OK, so I guess it was a remake.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.O.A._(1949_film)(And it was Dennis Quaid.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.O.A._(1988_film)

Happy Death Day 2U
The sequel to Happy Death Day. This one's a time loop PLUS multiverse. I don't know how you can appreciate this movie without seeing the first one. They often replayed many of the same scenes from the first movie.
I really enjoyed both movies. Not cinematic masterpieces but a lot of fun.
