"Eggleston, a Texas commitment, had a personal-best 47 kills in Brentwood's 3-2 championship win over Brentwood rival."
"Eggleston, who was named the state championship game MVP, had 95 attempts in the game with just 11 errors. She accounted for 48 of her team's 88 points."Goodness, did the coach just say, "give to Logan all the time and see if she can bail us out" This is interesting in the "big fish in small pond" way. We see some of our players were probably the big fish back home, but when they come to Texas (Yaz) they have to sit behind a slightly bigger fish (Ebbs). Of course, I remember a football recruit being asked by a coach (from a non-top tier program) "Dontcha want THE BIG Fish in a small pond son?" And he replied, "Well, I'd rather be a big fish in a big pond"

Logan Eggleston lead her team to the state title with over 40 kills! +https://amp.tennessean.com/amp/776428001 "Eggleston, a Texas commitment, had a personal-best 47 kills in Brentwood's 3-2 championship win over Brentwood rival."

Yikes! 95 swings!! But as a competitive kid, I imagine Logan called for every one of those 95 swings and more to help her team win the state championship! Being their big fish and the game going five, she obviously needed to produce and did! Congrats Logan and Brentwood, another State Championship!!

Short clip of Skylar Fields from tonight: She brings the thunder on that one. It sounded like a sonic boom when it hit the floor. Thank you for sharing, houstonbear15.

Heck, what about Brionne Butler and Orie Ogbaji? No way Butler redshirts at any other program in the country. Any. And maybe Ogbaji is a dud, although I highly doubt it. More likely she's Pilar Victoria, who would be a star somewhere else but can't see the court in meaningful ways at Texas. Maybe not at the 6 kills/set level, but certainly not riding the bench the way she is now behind Ogbogu and Johnson.

Next year we'll also likely see one of Morgan Johnson, Butler and O'Neal ride the pine unless one switches to RS and can beat out Yazzie. Orie brings good energy and seems like a great teammate, but it's probably in her best interest to transfer if she wants to be part of the rotation.

Things will work themselves out. Different players contribute in different ways. Not every scholarship player is going to be an instant starter as a freshman; some, not even as a sophomore. Hopefully, when a player's number is called, they are ready to contribute.
I remember Bailey Webster's first year; she had a difficult time contacting the ball and putting it to the floor. Look how she turned out. Same can be said for Rachael Adams. Granted, they did both end up playing/starting as freshmen, but they did not have the year-one impact that Haley Eckerman and Juliann Faucette had.

to be fair, when YBG committed to Texas, Nwanebu was at USC.

IMO the Victoria comparison isn't entirely fair because when she first arrived she was going to sit behind Webster and Eckerman anyway, leaving just 1 year to prove herself... I think had she stayed, she would have found meaningful time at Texas.

Paulina Prieto-Cerame and then Ebony Nwanebu transferring in definitely affected things. For Pilar, she was given many chances as a starter, but Amy Neal and Paulina just proved to be better; hard to argue how things turned out based on AA honors for them both.

So if she had stuck it out and stayed at Texas, she'd be behind Sun/White or Ebbs/Yaz. So,I don't she would have found meaningful time. I'm glad she found active playing time and in fact is the star of their offense at Arkansas. What I've seen of Ogbaji, in limited play after the season kicked off, doesn't make me think she's going to get more playing time next year.

Short clip of Skylar Fields from tonight: That one-legged landing is a knee/ankle injury waiting to happen...her coaches need to fix that.
