Look for another opening in the MIAA soon. Hints? Voluntary or not? This is late for a change.

What's up with Fullerton? They have a great recruiting class coming in... Why leave?

No, not legal if it is a volunteer position. The only thing that you can get is food, transportation, and lodging paid while on trips to play. Everything else you have to pay for. Can one be hosted by a friend (i.e. not being supported by the program)?

I really suck at hints, but here goes (provided jumboshrimp and I are thinking of the same opening): It will be a baptism of sorts for whoever takes the job. (and the coach that left did so voluntarily to take another position).

Who's going to replace Jeff at WSU? Any word on ACU? I heard they couldn't get their top candidate to visit

Actually, they can't stay with a staff member. This rule sucks, as there are many qualified people out there that are looking to move up, but they don't have the means at the moment. If they take a volunteer job, they can only host themselves, or stay with someone who is completely detached from the program. No help, nothing. Sucks for a lot of people.

They can stay with a staff member. There isn't anything in the manual about where they stay. Figure 11-1 of the NCAA Manual, page 54 states what they can and can't have. There isn't anything in there that says you can't live with a staff member- especially if you pay lodging. I know many sports where the volunteer will live with someone who works in the athletic dept and pay them room and board. They don't have to be detached from the program.

Talk to your compliance officer, they cannot stay with a staff member for free. If they are paying room and board (and it has to be reasonable) then it's allowed.

I think that is a big gray area and depends on how you read the rule.
