Many will remember Lexi for her MVP performances and her well deserved Volleyball and Academic All-American awards, rightfully so. I will also remember her for the grace that she showed during her final season with the Huskers. I will always remember her diving into a dogpile after a hard fought tournament victory. She hugged Madi Kubik and apparently said, "I'm so proud of you." This Husker fan as well as many others hope that Lexi knows that we are proud of her as well.
I hope she is happy, healthy and that she remembers her time in Nebraska as fondly as we do.

I don't think I've ever seen volleytalk as obsessed with a player as everyone was over Lexi was during her collegiate career. She didn't develop into the #1 player in her class like she was ranked out of HS, but she had a very solid career nonetheless. I hope she's happy post volleyball and am glad to hear it sounds like she's doing well. I get the feeling that playing college volleyball with that much attention was somewhat of a traumatic experience and probably changed how she viewed the sport (which is common for many collegiate players).
She was a really talented kid from a young age and was thrust into the spotlight at 17/18 years old and was endlessly criticized and talked about throughout her 5 years. She never had any known off court issues, never publically said one negative thing about Texas (despite being asked MANY times about this) and always had a great attitude on the court where she appeared to be a supportive, well liked teammate, even after getting beat out her 5th year which had to sting immensely. She always seemed like a happy joyful person to be around and I hope she's at peace with volleyball and is doing well in life.

The way (mostly Nebraska fans, but a few others as well) immediately make it their goal to shut down any discussion of Lexi is more of a red flag than any actual discussion I've seen of her on here. We're allowed to talk about the most hyped prep player of all time and how her college career ultimately fell short of expectations. Years later, and I still find it intriguing myself. I mean, she was SO physically dominant in prep, was called up to the senior national team at one point, etc. Do we think she would have had a #1 recruit type of career if she had switched to the OPP? Who knows. But there's literally nothing wrong with talking about it. Thayer Hall also falls into this category, I fear. Kennedi Orr might be the next contestant if she doesn't transfer. Idc what sport it is, a #1 recruit having a sub par collegiate career will always be a point of interest. Oh nobody says you can't talk about her, just why you need to keep talking about her after volleyball career has ended...does raise some questions.

I was just thinking of her the other day….after following players for so long, you do wonder what happened to them.

My fondest memory is watching her walk off the court after losing a hard fought final match--her arm around Madi Kubic, supporting her. Pure class.

Without looking Lexi up, I can't even tell you what she looks like.
I remember VT had lengthy discussions about Lauren Cook during her career (2008-12) because of:
1. Her transfer out of UCLA to Nebraska (which may have resulted in the abrupt retirement of Andy Banachowski) 2. She's the daughter of coach John Cook (who is, himself, a much-maligned figure) 3. something something trivial that I've now forgotten (probably the car accident, talks of DUI, crap like that)
There may have been another player who was discussed ad nauseum but my memory is bad now. And I stopped caring about this third person cuz, like, she doesn't factor in my overall happiness.

She got benched in a semi final match and every tv shot of her thereafter showed her cheering her heart out for her teammates. As for asking what she's up to these days I equate it with someone mentioning a high school classmate and I ask "oh how are they doing these days?" I don't really want to seek them out on social media but if someone is familiar with them I will inquire politely.

Also I think the rationale that she garners so much attention is due to her beauty doesn't quite make as much sense as there are and have been many "pretty" volleyball players.

Maybe it’s because of talk of wanting to develop into a 6 rotation player and the notion that Texas wasn’t doing that for her but she transferred to Nebraska and her career was somewhat stunted despite how much professional/national potential she had.
I think many were convinced she was the future of Team USA and should currently be gearing up for Paris but it simply was not meant to be.
Life goes on, there are new players to obsess about.

Class Act as far as I am concerned and somebody that should be sharing her story about the transfer portal. While we often only hear the success stories far more players are not experiencing success with the portal.

I remember seeing her play before 8th grade, and she was thrust into the spotlight even back then, with everyone predicting what a phenomenal player she was and would become. PrepVB wrote articles about how she could have started for a Pac-12 team even at that age. It was a HUGE amount of hype and expectations to live up to for a very young player. I can't imagine having your every move and match scrutinized at that level throughout your career. Ugh. I hope she is enjoying whatever kind of non-volleyball life she has created for herself.
