No problem, DominateNow. I was still trying to wrap my head around the data.
I just looked at the pdf list and searched for Volleyball, and only found 5 schools, which totally surprised me. Maybe I am spoiled because I am at Purdue?
And I didn't know at the time that Purdue was one of 3 volleyball teams in the nation to have 1000's for 9 straight years. So, that was pretty cool to narrow the list down even further. Thank you for that information.
I'm still surprised there are not more. Wow.
Now this Tweet is something I understand:
"Another great academic semester for @purduevb, earning a 3.25 GPA. 12 of 14 student-athletes over 3.0! #boilerup #dothework #priorities" - @daveshondell
Kudos to the players for all their hard work in the classroom!

From what I've been hearing and seeing from the team and with the talent coming in next season, I wouldn't be surprised if Evans barely saw playing time. I heard last year that she wasn't getting in much practice outside of normal practice hours and again, wouldn't be surprised if she was passed up by incoming talent. She may have been able to change her schedule around and I could be wrong but I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me at all. Isn't she an engineering major? If so, I don't blame her. Smart of her to focus on what's important. Yes she is an engineer. But so was Ariel Turner and Ariel was able to make time for outside training. But you hit on it, its all priorities and hers may tend away from volleyball more towards schooling.

IMHO,,,, I think Ashley Evans loves volleyball and her opportunity to play @ Purdue, so to let studies/schooling compromise her abilities as a very good volleyball player won't happen. Though it may not happen this year because Nichol is the main setter in 2014,,,, though in the years to come, she will be one of the best setters in the Big Ten and the country.

The whole goal behind Ashley Evans red-shirting was to not conflict with 2013 starters Rachel Davis & Val Nichol. Now she has a possible 4 years to start. If Lydia Dimke beats her out, then she will likely have 3 years, in a 6-2. I hope Lydia red-shirts & both start for 4 years. They are both amazing young ladies.
Not playing in 2013 allowed Ashley to experience B1G road trips, practice, improve, etc. It should have also allowed her to squeeze in some Freshman classes that have 3 hour labs. Her main job last Fall was concentrating on her Engineering classes, in my opinion.
I am trying to remember any Engineering students besides Ariel Turner who played as a true freshman and I am drawing a blank. Most took 5 years to graduate, just like lots of their peers.
So I don't believe anyone should have to live up to AT standards. Ariel was an Academic A+++

I really enjoyed watching Sammi play .

The first person to hook me on getting a season ticket to Purdue Volleyball was an Engineer, Carey Burvis. So when I try to remember who all were Engineers, my mind does a time warp from Goose & AT back to the 90's. Quiz: What former volleyball player is now an Engineering Professor at Purdue?

Not sure about John Tawa and Prepvolleyball. Just a couple more club tournaments,, and these players will be ready to get to Purdue. I am sure Christina and Lydia were helped by joining Purdue early. The incoming freshmen will need to get used to the increased speed of the college game and the practice schedule.
The learning curve will be steep for the first few months for the incoming freshmen,,, though I expect them to be playing well by October/November. I get the feeling there will be somebody(s) who will really "step up" and really contribute in their first season as Boilers.

The person who had me hooked on Purdue Volleyball was Stephanie Lynch. Her intensity and athleticism was amazing to watch. She was always humbled and a great person as well. I tried to research it and cannot figure out the answer to your question. I am very curious....

Quiz: What former volleyball player is now an Engineering Professor at Purdue? Answer: Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor, Nicole Key! Stephanie made #20 the cool jersey number to have. Her 2005 class ranked #6 was another recruiting class that was phenomenal. Ok. I am ready for some Purdue Volleyball!

Just read Prepvolleyball's 2014 recruiting rankings to learn Purdue has a top 3 class coming in. Lots to be excited about for Purdue coming off Elite 8 finish. Which freshman makes biggest impact?

I think Cuttino will make the biggest impact although Stahl will impact also. L2 and M2 were the two biggest iffy positions last year in my opinion so I think they'll step right in and contribute right away.
