Jump Serving: Last season Hartong was the only jump server in the regular rotation, Higgins only in spots. This coming season Shoji has Higgins in the regular rotation and Keani Passi and Savannah Kahakai who both have effective jump serves. Passi and Kahakai will most probably be in the mix for starting, so I expect the serving to be more effective. I also really like Nikki Taylor's float, she knows when to bring the heat and is accurate targeting. How is kalei greeley serve? Do you think she will be in the serving rotation if she starts? Greeley's serve is effective enough to at best to let her serve on her rotation to the back and sub her out for a DS if Shoji feels that her backrow play doesn't meet his standards to be effective. If leaving her in the back is his option, they will have another offensive option because her backrow attack is very effective. Hopefully if her backrow play is good enough, Shoji will give her a chance earlier in the season, rather then later as he did with Taylor. Height is an advantage in backrow attacks if you can deliver consistently.

She has the potential to be a star. And with how our middles play at times, I feel like the outsides will get just as much sets as they did last year.

According to Cindy Luis blog. The wahine are getting a transfer for 2014 and are working on the paper work. Dave shoji wouldn't say who but he did say it would be big time. So I guess we could be getting a star. Excited to find out who it is!

They already have kahakai and Mendoza. Im thinking it's an OH or MB. Hopefully someone dominant. I can't wait to find out who it is.

I'm hoping it's a pin hitter. With Hartong's departure Hawaii will be thin for hitter's who can compete with the top tier teams in the BIGs. I only see Nikki Taylor as one who can hold her own, with Olevao, Long, Passi and Greeley either under performing or unproven at the D1 level. Olevao was starting last season and needs to improve her hitting percentage to keep her starting spot. And there's also a question of her going on a mission, which IMO will help her immensely to mature and also a reason more to add another pin hitter. Greeley and Passi are unproven with Greeley the most intriguing one with her immense potential, and Long is long. Cindy's emphasized "big time" to quote Shoji as in a starter transfer from a BIG 10, PAC 12 upper level team. As far as a libero, Shoji has great faith in what he has coming back and Savannah Kahakai with a signed NLI, a rare defensive player signee, who he expects to be a potential starting libero. Cindy was saying that Shoji will let her know who the transfer is when all of the transcripts are in place and the NLI signed. I expect the announcement to be the end of this month, before Spring break ends March 28.

He has immense faith in her and from what I've seen, she's very good at defense. I'm thinking it will either be a player from a top team, who's good but doesn't start cause the talent around her is too strong, or a starter from the middle teams of the pac 12 and b1g. I hope it's an OH.

From SA:
"The Hawaii indoor team will not hold a spring game. Coach Dave Shoji said a couple of factors dictated the decision, one being down to one middle blocker in Jade Vorster. Junior middle Kalei Adolpho is playing on the Wahine basketball team and it's uncertain when that season might be over."
