My very early speculation is that Kriskova plays L1, Duello challenges Bates for playing time at L2, Fricano and Saunders complete for RS. Nelson moves to MB1, and Williams and Blake compete for MB2. Ya'll are forgetting about Brooke Morgan, who will be competing for a spot. She and Williams are very good middles. both have some experience OH. Duello will probably be starting, Kriscova is also a good RS. My bad! I totally forgot about Morgan! Edited my previous post.

Kriskova taking a redshirt just makes sense at this point. Sorry for her, but it's the best decision.
I've got Williams in the middle too. So that's Blake and Nelson with some experience in the middle (although Blake with precious little at this point), and Morgan and Williams as freshmen coming in to compete. I think our middle looks solid going forward...if not next year.
I also like the idea of Saunders and Kriskova as possible RS's. Hadn't thought of Kriskova that way before. Frankly though, it isn't that clear really how the RS, OH distribution will shake out. We'll need a dominant presence at L1 and Kriskova is the obvious candidate, with Bates at L2. Fricano and Saunders at RS seem pretty unknown quantities at this point. One thing is for certain, none of those options has the flexibility and consistency that Thomas provides. Defense and being able to work out of system is key to our style of play. It will be interesting to see how Sheff tries to get the balance right. Next season will be a steep learning curve - may be hard in the beginning.
It's probably just an accident of history, but it looks like Sheff is lining up alternate year waves of recruits, with off year targeted transfers or recruits to fill the holes that are left or that appear due to injury. It's a strategy that might work if the idea is build the team around cohesive cohorts.

There's a good likelihood Duello, Williams and Morgan will all be starting and perhaps our strongest offensive threats (and defensive). Williams and Morgan are both great athletes. Williams is very very quick and athletic, as is Morgan..who is 6'5 but as prepvolleyball states, she plays bigger than she is because of her mobility and jumping ability..which is fun for us, scary for others.

As a Cardinal fan in baseball, I am glad that my other favorite team has a staff that actually understands and uses statistics, unlike some people. Cough, cough Mike Matheny.

They left out the part about the $10 "convenience" fee for the tickets. Look, $40 for a season ticket is an awesome price, but when the base price is $30, that's a 33% "convenience" fee. Just build it in to the price and stop the farce. I think it would be grave mistake to change the price at the moment. Next year they will likely be down again. Give it about 3 more years and then maybe discuss an increase to $7, same as women's bb. I've noticed lately that predictably, going to the matches is about being involved in the hip thing, and not actually watching the matches (I'm talking to you, self-important fans next to me from last night). Does anyone know, are the reserved season tickets sold out? I would assume not.

I feel the same way about where I sit (the first row right above the ball well directly behind the Badger bench)

I tell you what, I saw a photo of the match from the end line upper deck (the closed deck) from Sunday - now that is a really nice view! I like the end line view, but unfortunately, it's usually either students (south), or restless kids/groups (north) so I only sit there for the opening tournament.
You what I want? Signs on the benches of the obstructed views! I often sit near the aisle which also leads to obstructed seats; the late-arriving people see the "hole" where no one is sitting and think - oo there's a couple of seats. Then they sit down. They cannot see. They leave (during play of course). Then the next group tries the same thing. Occasionally I mention it before people get there and they ignore me, then get up, and say "you were right." Well, duh, I've been in the fieldhouse for years!
Next year I'm getting reserved. I don't have to sit in them, but I can at least be guaranteed a reasonably decent seat and I don't have to arrive so early.

She has definitely shown more resilience as time goes on. That match in Seattle was hard on her, but I think she is hitting better in bigten play than in preseason, which is testament to real growth. And just the image of her flying in and thwacking the ball makes you feel better and more optimistic. Her blocking is getting better too. No stats behind that, just my impression. She's been a lighting strike from out of nowhere.
