It's not clear she wants to though, based on inferences from comments she has made. She would have to go oversees, and maybe her ties here are too strong. Don't know if she has other plans.

So, Lauren is the only badger first team AA other than Sherisa Livingston? I had forgotten that. Holy cow.

I was totally blown away when Thomas took second ball one match and shot a back slide set placed perfectly. The other team was shocked. Ball slammed. Everyone erupted. She's something special. Why did that surprise you? She had done that for years when she was a setter in club ball and the two years for Pete Waite.

It's another to do it when stepping in after having not set in a year for a player you weren't setting. It's also another thing to set as fast and accurately as she did to the pin. I set in college. After a few years...a hem...When I step back into it, it's not the same.

And it's worth noting she probably wasn't getting much practice setting.

I'm going to bet that from the Rutgers week she probably was getting in some practice setting to Lauren's foot issues. Just in case.
But let's not forget she was a very, very good setter to begin with.

I think it was against OSU away...but maybe it was Purdue away. It was an away match.
I've seen Thomas do that backset well a few times.

Carlini up against Hancock, Inky, and Vansant. Clearly, those are the four best players in the nation.

Seems kind of arbitrary to give it to one of them, but that is the nature of these awards.

BadgerVB twitter account posted Lauren's 2014 highlight reel.
You can see how important her mobility is in this video. Those running backsets all the way back across the net to slide are simply amazing.

Damn.
Just look at the number of one-on-ones and split blocks she is able to get her hitters with those crazy sets. And they don't even have some of my favorite plays in there. There was one at Minnesota, an insanely tight ball that she hauled out of the net on the right side and fed to Court, who tipped it over in the teeny space between the block and the antenna... and it stayed in. The fact that she managed to get such a tight set to her hitter in the perfect position to thread around the block, and without landing herself in the net or in Court's way... just insane. Insane.
Also, the running jump-bump set at 1:02? OMG.
