Nebraska wins game one.....have never understood the lovefest concerning Keil. I am still not impressed. She is not a difference maker. Kiel has a very high volleyball IQ. She does a lot of things that don't get noticed by regular fans. She has very good hang time and a fast arm. She hit .333 and got credit for 8 blocks in 3 games. Sorry....against a struggling Iowa State, those stats do not wow me. I don't think a 6' player can be formidable in the middle against the powerful Big, no matter how talented she is. I hope I am wrong because it seems that John is head over heels.

Gioli, Juciely, etc.

Would Holmquist, Elmer, etc.. have been as effective if they were pushing six foot? Yes or no? Are there any 6ft or under 6ft middles that received All American status?

It's the toughest conference for a reason and traditionally the taller players, especially MB, do better

She's 5'10". I honestly don't know what you think the extra inch or two really adds. Just for fun, here are the 6'1" All-American middles: Chloe Ferrari (2013), Megan Dooley (2009), Neticia Enesi (2008 & 2009), Jessica Swarbrick (2006, 2007, & 2008), Nana Meriwether (2005 & 2006), Danielle Meyer (2005 & 2006), Leticia Armstrong (2005), Kristen Andre (2005), Melissa Munsch (2003 & 2004), Camille Leffall (2004), Nicole McCray (2002), Christy Myers (2002), Jennifer Pahl (2000), Benishe Dillard (1997 & 1998), Kim Storey (1998), Jessica Field (1997), Sarah Silvernail (1996). This is just through 1996. The AVCA site doesn't have All-America teams posted from before that (or at least I couldn't find them). So, I think it's safe to say that you're pretty misinformed here. It's not and has never been about height. It's about athleticism, the ability to read your opponent, the ability to play the game, speed, intangibles... Saying Kiel will never be great because she's two inches shorter than someone else is incredibly narrow-minded.

I do not have a dog in this fight, but FYI, Wisconsin's Dom Thom is 5'11" - according to the roster, at least.

Nothing would make me more happy than if Keil were to be very successful.

Keil has a great presence at the net. After watching the match yesterday, she has great control and has no problem putting up a block. After all, she got subbed in for Haggerty against Penn State and Texas last year. I don't get why her height is a problem, like others have said she's quick, has great hops, and a quick arm.

No, I'm saying that just because she's 6' tall does not mean she can't be successful.

Of course her height is an issue as a blocker, it doesn't however mean she can't be a good player in the Big. Would you rather have an experienced 6''0 middle who is a smart player, or a freshman 6'3 middle who is an average athlete and not polished, because there are plenty of those in the Big.

I hope I am wrong because it seems that John is head over heels. Thinking that someone is your current beat options is hardly head over heels I think that sometimes John gets a lineup in his head and that's it. Example....Anderson her senior year. We were going to do that 6-2 Hell or high water. I am a big Cook fan and wouldn't want anyone else for our coach but I think he needs to roll the dice sometimes and mix it up.

Who else did you want to see in the middle?
