Last time I went there I bought a can of Sprite and it was warm. I asked if there was anywhere I could get a cup of ice and was told I had to go to the cafeteria to buy a cup of ice. They didn't even have the brain to put the soda in a tub of ice before selling it to the fans. Just ripped the can out of a 12pk box and gave it too me all warm. They also had pizzas sitting on a poker table that was available for purchase. It was not in some warmer or some hot box. Just sitting there in room temperature. Hmmmm. Maybe I should re-think my Super Bowl menu.

I don't think you understand... in the case of that particular piece of legislation, it means that they can now award more money if each individual institution wants to. The rule is not saying they must give more money but that they may give more money. The legislation is for ALL division I teams saying that they MAY now award more money for the costs listed. The scholarship legislation that you cannot take away scholarships for athletic reasons is binding to ALL NCAA Division I institutions. "The measures adopted today apply only to the Power Five schools. However, conferences that make up the Group of Five could adopt the legislation as well." collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/17/cost-of-attendance-multi-year-scholarships-approved/

And how is it that legislation voted on by only 65 schools ("The Big Five" - no other conference was allowed in the room) out of 351 member institutions becomes binding for all of Division I? Because the idiot president of the NCAA, Emmerett, gave those conferences autonomy. Which means their votes are the only ones that matter now.

I have far more critical things to say about Mark Emmert ("idiot" would be on the positive end of the scale), but in this instance, I think the NCAA was bowing to the inevitable.

You have to appreciate the job former coach Craig Choate did at SJSU back in the early 2000s. They weren't world beaters, but he maintained a solid program.

But did Craig Choate commit Giovane Gavio's daughter??? Clearly they are going to Brazil for their future. www.sjsuspartans.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/111414aab.html

Can you play indoor with two players? I wonder if the problem is the school? I think their men's BB is blowing up also?

I know the basketball team is likely getting disqualified for academic problems. That has nothing to do with volleyball, just a bad reflection on the professionalism of the AD and the athletics department.

This is not a hypothesis...........it is a fact.

There were 9 players from 2013 were not on the 2014 roster (not counting graduating seniors) and the same (if not more non-returners) will affect the Sand roster for 2015. I don't fully understand the APR rules, but when a school does not return a player to the roster (-1) and they don't return to the school (another -1) it scores against SJSU's APR for volleyball. Just like basketball, if the score drops below the threshold the school looses scholarships, practice / coach time, and increase in study hall time. Loosing 70% - 80% of your roster has to implode your APR eventually since it is a 4 year rolling average.

APR is calculated on a 4 year average, which needs ot be 900, with a recent 2 year average of 930, but it takes into account giving athletes 6 years to complete their degrees. So it doesn't have quite the immediate effect you think it does. It will be a while before the impact is obvious.

If they leave in good academic standing, there's no hit to the APR. It's why Kentucky basketball doesn't have APR issues. The guys leaving after one year for the NBA finish out their spring semesters. Part of the deal with Calipari.
