Ya- SMBC sure ended up in a great place last year at both the classic and nationals. Not way ahead of the pack. I wonder where Douglas will end up this year?

Newsflash! Many of these players listed will be passed very quickly in college by others. Not a knock on your lists. "Team" success in Open level is not a totally reliable indicator of college success.
If anything people should know by now talent can be found all over the country and at all levels of club and open level....especially in the guys game. With a good year of quality training and touches guys can leapfrog others who have played the game for years at a higher level.
The ceiling of a HS level male has a ton of variables.

Top players by position / college prospects (in no particular order) OH - TJ Defalco, Jordan Ewert, Ryan Moss, Kyle Ensing, Woody Cook, Colin Mahan Set - Josh Tuaniga, Micah Ma'a, Dante Chakravorti MB - Patrick Gasman, Brandon Oberender, Tyler Resnick, Kimball Leitulia OPP - Kysen Olsen, Dane Leclair, Ryne Benson, Brett Rosenmeier L - Joe Worsley, Matt Douglas, Blake Diamond 13 of these players were on the BYNT team. Defalco, Tuaniga, Kimball, and Blake Diamond will put up a strong team again for HBC. Mahan and Leclair represent east coast for Pace. Ewert and Worsley and Gasman represent Pac Rim. Not sure what Ma'a is doing next year? He may be staying at his same club. As for Douglas and Woody Cook, not quite sure what will happen with that SMBC team. Cook could be going to Bones. Kysen will keep a strong Coast team together, with a few good players from Seaside 17s. Rumor has it Ryne Benson and Ensing are definitely moving to Bones, along with Oberender and Resnick on this list, which could make up a fantastic team with Maki also to beat HBC this year. And Rosenmeier and Ekstein will keep up a solid Coastal team.

How about Corry Short and Wesley Blodig? Short made the Youth National Training Team and Blodig is A1. Solid players as well IMO.

All their hitters would be members of the top 25 underclassmen to watch. Benson at opposite, Ensing and Maki at the pins and not to mention their strong serve receive, and the two best middles in the age group closing the blocks and smashing quicks. Scary team.

Short and Skyler the setter put up a good team this year for Ocean Bay, beating Coastal the 2nd day of JO's. Short definitely leads his team. As for Blodig I haven't heard of him

Bones should worry about beating Pac Rim before they worry about HBC. No question they've got scary talent, but their pin hitting, ball control and setting are still a step down from PR. Their middles are so good it could make up for that, but it should be a three way race in 18s next year.

With Maki and Ensing. The outside hitter core rivals that of Pac Rim and HBC. They just have to prove it come season time. I would also like to mention 949 middles Brandon Hopper and Matt August.

Hopper and August are great. Them and the opposite are one of the key reasons they beat Balboa in the Classic, and placed 5th at JOs

Don't know about Ensing to Bones, but a friend of mine talked to Ryne personally and he said he was going to play for Bones and Oak Park High School
