That was quick. Was just thinking, they solidified most positions on the court except Libero. Gonzalez and fuller both seniors. Looks like that was just taken care of. I know they have another Libero comming in after next year. I guess if u can't beat them join them. Lol. Nice add. Welcome to championship U skylar . Lainey Pierce.

Lainey seems to be the more naturally gifted but we will soon find out. Of course Skylar is talented and experienced and may challenge for either back row position or be a primary sub. Penn State has strengthened their weaker positions and may now be a force again.

I'd say as the defending national champions and winners of 5 of the last 7 national championships, they haven't not been a force.

Are any of them gonna see playing time as a libero. Gonzalez is gonna have that one spot unless someone plays ridiculously better then her. She's a senior that's already helped them win one. I think that secondary spot with fuller is the one they're all gonna be competing for

My question would be are any of their offensive players gonna be good defenders. Watching last year teams picked Courtney apart when she was in back row. Deja was probably their best defender by far and she's gone. Hope some of those freshman have some defensive skills. Need a well rounded player like déjà was on floor not just offensive

Very nice pickup for the Nittany Lions.
I don't see that much of an impact this year but as she will have 4 years of eligibility, she certainly will be in the mix in the years to come.
Sure puts this 2014 class into the stratosphere level.
Did she just play Sand last year or also train with the indoor team her redshirt year at UCLA?

Is that the opposite of odd practice time? It amazes me how much fans worry about Penn State practices. I feel very comfortable letting Russ and staff organizing and running the practices. LOL! +100!

Out of respect for the 4 upper class DS/Libero that already are there who have multiple B1G championships, Final 4 appearances and a National Championship under their belt already. Don't get me wrong, pedigree, good club coaching and HS accolades are terrific with all of these Freshmen coming in but NONE of them have a lick of College Game experience yet. So, with that in mind , excitement, perception and expectations are fine and dandy but who emerges from this pack of 20+, will ultimately be determined in South Gym. It would be great to see an immediate impact from Dystra, or any of the newbies, but PSU will also be as deep in positional competition as they have been in a long time. I too have some hunches but let's chat again in a month or two to see what is stirring . I do believe as said before, I can see this team in the Final 4 again.

I assume she's walking on? Can't imagine there's a free schollie left after signing 7 in November.

I think it's rebuilding year. Could they win it all of course. But with so many freshman with no college experience u just don't know. My opinion is they will probably start slow until they start gaining the experience. Not expecting them to go in and beat Stanford. If they do great but I think they're gonna have some loses early, which is fine to me with that many freshman. I'm looking to see that they're progressing and getting stronger as year goes on. This is just beginning for them. A lot of them are gonna be together for awhile. If they have off year so be it but on other end if they go deep or win it all this year, look out could be another multiple year run. Penn states rebuilding years differ from most. Their rebuilding years are still Atleast elite 8 or sweet 16 appearance.
Libero situation I don't think really is one. Gonzalez is gonna be starter. The rest will be competing for that backup spot. I'd be shocked if anyone took it away from her. She is a senior though. I think that competition is for next year. It's great to see how deep they are though, not just at Libero but everywhere else to. Just look at their backup setter. She was one of best setters in nation last year in high school. Is she carlini no , but to have that comming in off your bench next year after Hancock is done is sure nice. Plus having Rockwell there as a top notch coach for setters, I'm sure wieskircher will be ready to go. The excitement that psu has giving over last decade seems to keep comming. Looking forward to this next year

In my opinion they're two positions that are set that a freshmans not gonna take being Libero and setter. Think those are as close to locks as possible. Think Washington will lock up spot as middle but outsides are up for grabs I think

Penn State goes into every season with the idea that all positions are open for competition and may the best player win without any injuries. Here is little background info on Skylar. www.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30500&ATCLID=209227674 Excerp from prepvolleyball: She has been a club libero the past two years and will play the same position in college. She is a great serve receptor
