Dumbfounded Karch isn't developing another setter. Would be like Speraw taking Thornton as back up and having Shoji be starter leaving Christenson off the roster.

I know we have a lot of depth and talent that Karch is trying to work out at MB which is why there are 6 on the roster, but Cassidy Lichtman being 4th on the depth chart at this point is a little worrisome. I'm not sure we wouldn't be better off with Newcombe or Regan Hood, but ideally we just have to hope Larson heals quickly and Hodge getsback in the national team gym next year.

She's just not able to compete. And I have no idea why you're worried about the fourth OH we take. If we ever get to the point where we're playing our fourth OH, we've got bigger issues than the relative difference between Lichtman, Hood, and Newcombe. Lichtman likely sees zero front row time for the rest of the year. She's there to serve.

It is certainly conceivable that two of the three have an off day when facing Russia, Japan and Turkey. From what I saw in the matches against Brazil, the system the USA is using relies quite heavily on the outside hitters and it's just a lot of pressure on the three we have. Also, do you know if Hodge will be able to compete at the world championships?

They need to be able to handle it, and they aren't going to be yanked at the first sign of trouble. Karch is not taking Lichtman in case Robinson, Hill, or Hildebrand have rough matches. Come on. That's basic.

But I wonder who Brazil and Russia will bring. Litchman is a much better all around player then Hood and Newcombe. By next year we probably won't even need Hodge and the team has been doing well without her.

Right now I would definitely take Lichtman over Newcombe and Hood. She is far ahead when it comes to serve-receive and defense. Hell she probably can set if both setters were out! But real talk I am curious to know where Megan Hood is going to fit in. I was hoping to see a different setter along side Glass. I am a fan of Courtney but I would like to see Lloyd!

I wonder where Lloyd is in all of this? Is she not good enough? Are the coaches "hiding" her? Do they not like her? What is it?? I'm so curious!

I wonder where Lloyd is in all of this? Is she not good enough? Are the coaches "hiding" her? Do they not like her? What is it?? I'm so curious! Just as Hugh was in the last quad, Karch seems committed to using the 6-2 substitution, as well as a designated serving substitute (Miyashiro in London, now Lichtman) during games. Given that Glass is likely the anointed starting 5-1 setter for the foreseeable future, Thompson probably fulfills the role of setter in the 6-2 sub better than Lloyd does. As long as the coaches feel this way, my guess is Thompson will likely continue to be picked ahead of Lloyd on important rosters.
