I don't know if Fien is better, none of us do. You have to remember that because Amber has all those skills on the right it isn't imperative that both outsides do. If Fien can kill the ball better, she is better, and Ambers ability to pass in particular allows them to get away with Fien left but Dorothy....Fien is not a better terminator yet. I don't know that

Yes Amber does.........do you recall how rusty Elmer was when she was a freshman? Good coaching or instinct? So because one kid did it ten years ago, Fien can do it now? Did I say move Fien to the right?

If she is high error offensively, moving her left isn't necessarily the best option. At this point her best skill by far is blocking, her playing on the right makes a lot of sense. Amber is an incredible all around player with skill in every position. Fien is not yet there. You guys have preached on the USA thread, the importance of your OH's having all those skills? Why don't you think that pertains in your own team? Your comparison is apples to oranges, since international volleyball is played under substantially different substitution rules. Playing within the NCAA rules, Fien doesn't need to be an accomplished back row player. If she is able to get the job done offensively, she will play only in the front row and a DS will play for her across the back row. With Wong-Orantes and the Rolfzens playing six rotations, the Huskers will have no shortage of skilled back row players on the court at all times.

so....what you're saying is that it really was not an advantage to have both Robinson and Kadie highly skilled at all positions last year because we could have made it work if one was not a good ball handler or strong at defense? Is that what your saying?

Is that what your saying? Of course it's an advantage, that's a silly question. If you could have both lefts and right be 5 tool players why wouldn't you? But if your L1, Libero and RS can pass and defend, it isn't imperative that L2 can.

I said what I said, so don't try twisting it into something else. Address my statement and stop dodging Free. Yes or No? When you start your response with the phrase "So what you're saying" and then frame the rest of your first question as an absurd extension from what I actually said, the answer to your final question should be obvious. No, that's not what I'm saying.
I'm sorry if I didn't fall for your attempt at reductio ad absurdum.

You might want to review what HH and I were talking about Jason. Meant to quote Nsanity. Gotcha.

Really really enjoyed this post. The three sets showed a lot about the young Husker moving up in the ranks. More and more it seems that the Huskers will have good dept at most positions,,,wish Amber would clean up her hitting errors but she still has time to work on that.I am very confident that Cook will run with Mary P. at setter, but there is no doubt in my mind that if someone else would play better at Setter, he would not hesitate at all to make a change. I would expect to see a lot of Kelly H. on the floor in getting her prepared for next season if for no other reason. I thought she did very well in the sets that were shown from this recent trip. Most of all, I love watching Melanie Keil play. She is a force on the floor. GBR

I would hope if all things being equal between the two that Kelly would get the nod. Hunter is the future of the volleyball team. I don't think Cook will red shirt her if Mary is the starter, he didn't last season and all Hunter got out of it was an injury and one wasted year of eligibility. If all things are equal, there is no doubt, you start Pollmiller. She was unanimously elected a team captain. She was a leader on this team last year and obviously the team looks to her a a leader this year as well. Starting the younger player because they have more athletic potential is a little crazy to me. Mary is a fantastic setter and will be great for the Huskers. When it is Hunter's turn she'll get the keys to the car. DITTO!!
