I would love to see Florida get back there and to the final but it hasn't happened in so long. They always have the potential it just depends who we play in round 2 and which higher seed we get matched up with. I really hope we don't have to play FSU again in round two. But anytime we get seeded it pretty much happens. I hope Florida State finishes strong enough to secure a seed and host through rounds one and two. This is best chance to keep them away from Florida in the early post season run. Karma perhaps back to the 2011 regional final in Minn. where FSU took down Purdue and Iowa State for their 1st trip to Final Four FSU may be another dark horse in 2014 for a run to Final Four !

Wow! You could go by the poll and you could get a preseason top ten! Let's see; that woud be--- 1 Stanford 2 USC 3 PSU 4 Texas 5 Washington 6 Wisconsin 7 Nebraska 8 Purdue (I didn't give 8 to other; because that could be a combine of several schools!) 9 BYU 10 Minn. I wonder how that will compare to AVCA in a couple of weeks! GO HUSKERS

I would pick Southern Cal, Stanford and Washington ALL TO MAKE THE FF..............but the NCAA will end up putting them in the same bracket. Southern Call and Washington BOTH were FF caliber teams last season but met in the Elite Eight. That was highest level of volleyball I saw last season. Thing of the tremendous Federer/Djocvich final at Wimbledon. Both teams played their hearts out. The highest level match when. The highest lvl match in tourney was psu and Stanford It was the best match I saw in person just like the Wimbledon final I saw in person. Did yall attend the PSU Stanford match in person?

This is very early but fun. In my opinion, of course an educated guess in no particular order:
Wisconsin USC Stanford Texas
I think Wisconsin surprised a lot last season, this season they will have to live up to 2013, that's tough but they have the squad to do it again for sure. USC, Stanford, Washington will all be in the mix as well as PSU, of course. Texas has a "not as tough" conference to play in but they are matched with the best in the country. For those of you expecting a "moon ball" offense this season from Texas, think again. It's fast and ran efficient. They will be up there as all the other top teams. I hope the PAC 12 and B1G teams aren't put in the same regional to on battle it out in the regional final, I hate that when there are a couple of teams from each conference that could win it all on any given night. I felt bad for the Big12 in 2009 at the Nebraska regional, more than 2 of those teams could of beat Minnesota that year and only 1 came out of that regional, we've all felt the sting. In this time period the 2 powerhouses' of conferences B1G and Pac12 unfortunately see each other in these situations. (PSU vs Wisconsin-Final) (USC vs. Washington-Regional final)...that's the price that's paid when you play in a conference that is that good, you have more teams in the mix from your conference so eventually you will probably see them again in post season, just like it's Texas' downfall to play in not as strong of a conference then meet up with teams like PSU/Stanford/USC/Washington etc, Texas has proved to be just as talented however with wins over USC and Nebraska and Oregon and Stanford the last few years.
Just my observation is all. I think this season will be another great one, I'm excited.

Did yall attend the PSU Stanford match in person? Except the Wimbledon final didn't include one player choking away a 2-sets-to-none lead and losing in 5 sets on their home court. I wasn't surprised, though. Mick Haley let that happen at Texas several times in Regional finals (LSU and Florida in the 1990's come to mind).

Penn State- One of the best setters in the country, good leadership, excellent coaching staff, Megan Courtney, plus the best freshman class in NCAA volleyball. They've been there before and there's no reason they shouldn't be back there again.
Texas- They'll have some studs up at the net, and arguably an upgrade at setter over Hannah Allison. Passing and defense could be an issue, but McCoy and Pilar could help solve some of that. With Eckerman, Chiaka, Prieto, Bell, McCage, etc..., they won't be short on star-power. I think they'll get back to the final four for the 3rd year in a row.
Stanford- It's time for the incredibly talented junior class to make it's move. The Cardinal should be a super well-rounded team this year, and they'll be prepared come December. With almost everyone back, I like them to make the final four.
Florida State- Every final four has to have a surprise team, right?? Well if there is one this year, I believe it'll be Florida State. They have stud Libero Katie Mosher, Sarah Burrington at Middle, Nicole Walsh returning, plus the addition of big time transfers Karlie Hauer and Kiara Wright. Pair that with an experienced setter, and they could surprise some teams in an NCAA Tournament run.

Florida State looked huge when I saw them against Wisconsin, and after getting some jitters out in set one they fought very well for two sets.. But as much as I like FSU, they aren't the calibur of the top 6.

I hope you realize that Penn State lost 7 players from prior year and may be starting as many as 3 freshmen. They are not a favorite to make the final four after losing 3 starters. I still think Wisconsin will be in it.

For starters Penn State won a title in 1999 after losing Stout, Anderson, and Cochran. In 2009 they went undefeated after losing Holehouse, Harmotto and Fawcett. In 2010 they won another title after losing Hodge, Glass and Dorton....so 3 of their 6 titles occurred after losing 3 starters. Penn State will be fine.
