I think Miss States RPI last week was 248. How many spots will this drop LSU in RPI? RPI is based on your winning percentage 25 percent, your opponents winning percentage 50 percent, and opponents opponents winning percentage 25 percent. So the loss lowers the first quarter of RPI, assuming Mississippi State has a bad record, loers RPI by just playing them, then brings into play the records of non conference opponents of MSU, to a very slight degree. Whhat this does do is bury LSU chances of being seeded, slight as they were. Loss probably doesn't hurt RPI as much as simply playing Mississippi State does. The above is the 'basic' version of RPI. There are 'other' adjustments that are made from this RPI calculation. A bonus is given for wins against RPI top 25 teams and a penalty for losses to RPI 167 or worse. I don't know how they quantify these bonuses and penalties, but LSU will incur some sort of penalty for this loss. They do have 2 Top 25 wins, so they have gotten some kind of bonus.

Florida defeats Kentucky in 4. Alabama sweeps Georgia. Auburn defeats South Carolina in 5. Mississippi St defeats LSU in 5.
Ole Miss leading Mizzou 2-1 early in the 4th set.
(I love how the SEC Network has 'MISS leading 2-1' on the score banner... is that MISSissippi or MISSouri?)

Missouri ends any chance Ole Miss had to find their way on to the tournament bubble by defeating the Rebels in 5.

I think this also hurts Kentuckys chances at a seed as well. If this lowers LSU's rpi which in turn hurts the SEC teams rpi's that really could cost UK the 15th or 16th spot. A lot of RPI's there sorry. Bluepenguin, would love to hear your thought on this and what you think the fallout is for even teams like Florida and Texas A&M.

I don't think affects Florida at all. It possibly will affect the Aggies and Alabama. Arkansas is just fighting to get to .500 or better and that will be decided likely on Wednesday

Neither changes will be noticed.

Was at the Alabama Georgia match. I've listened to a lot of people defend Georgia on this thread and talk about how they were headed in a good direction. But they looked horrible against Alabama. The scores (13, 15, 21) don't come close to representing how poorly Georgia played. Not sure if it is captured on the match video but Georgia had absolutely zero team chemistry and no positive energy on the court. Not sure what is going on but that program is not in a good position right now and doesn't appear to be headed in the right direction.

Yes they did not have much for the TIDE Hell the TIDE are in the top 30. UGAs loss of SMITH RS last season BAUMART SET last season and BUCKENDAHL OH reserve last season, DS most of the time last season, would have been OH1 or OH2 this season. Those losses along with the graduation of 3 starting seniors, are what the coaching staff had to replace with a RS Sophomore OH Dachs and a RS Sophomore RT side Spencer and a FRESHMAN setter KAZOR. Yes the staff knew about the 3 seniors leaving but they did not know about Baumert untli the end of last season and Smith near the start of last season and Buckendahl until the start of this season so no way to recruit for those replacements. In a previous post, I posted how many other position are being filled by players who did not play those positions last season and or are playing 6 rotations instead of 3 last season. The coaching staff has tried a 5-1 a then moved to a 6-2. They are trying to find the right COMBO. With all that said they will still have this team somewhere around 500 by the end of the season 6 of those losses this year are two each to Kentucky,Florida and Alabama. I am sure many other teams would have 6 losses to those teams to. I appreciate how the staff has tried different things. Even went to a 5-1 halfway through set 3 against Alabama and seemed to help UGA with a different look. As far as not good position now. Those kids are proud to where the UGA uniform the education is Awesome and I do believe the coaches will have a better record in the near future. With the loss of the 4 seniors who start this season, I do believe next season could be more of the same, Dachs will get stronger The Middles will be Outstanding and Spencer will continue to terminate. I do believe Andersen will be the LIB with MCcord moving to DS. Kazor with a Freshman season under her belt, spring and summer to work on her setting hopefully will take her to another level. , I do believe 2016 and 2017 should be the start and hopefully continued prosperity year after year for UGA Volleyball. Dont judge how UGA looks by this match they were on the road Friday at Mizzou and won in 5 that doesnt sound like a team that has no Chemistry no Fight Like a program in the wrong direction. A program in the wrong direction usually lays down and doesnt fight on the road to win in Five. Of course the girls are upset as HELL they want to win just not enough in the AMMO box to do it day in and day out. ONE last note. Alabama is a very good team. I wish them the best they deserve the Ranking. I am seeing a mix of young players with a mix of Veteran players and they are getting better and more consistent with every match. The players and the Coaches deserve a big shout out. Cant wait to see how this team plays next season. GO DAWGS!!!!

Have to think Reuter (Mizz) gets SEC Freshman of the Week if Mizzou beats Georgia Friday night. Instead goes to Alhassan (yawn). You could make an argument for Reuter over Alhassan even with the loss.

SEC Players of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week
Alex Holston • Florida
Sophomore • RS • 6-1 • Olney, Md.
Holston helped lead the Gators to two more league wins as Florida clinched a share of the SEC regular season title. She had a team-high 26 kills on the week and 4.79 points/set, including 15 kills to lead all players in UF's 3-1 win at Kentucky. Holston led UF with four service aces against Auburn and Kentucky (three of UF's five at Kentucky). She also tied for the team lead with four blocks at UK. Holston has had four-straight matches leading the Gators with double-digit kills.
Defensive Player of the Week
Haley Smith • LSU
Junior • DS • 5-4 • Meraux, La.
Smith averaged 5.78 digs per set for a defense that held its opponents to a combined .105 hitting percentage. She earned her eighth 20-plus dig match against Tennessee with 22, while holding the Lady Vols to a .052 hitting clip. Smith came back to net a career-high 30 digs against Mississippi State while holding the Bulldogs to a .153 average. She had seven or more digs in four of the nine total sets played, including having 10 in a single set on the week.
Freshman of the Week
Rhamat Alhassan • Florida
Freshman • MB • 6-4 • Glenarden, Md.
Alhassan led Gators on the week with a .529 clip against Auburn and Kentucky. She tied for the team-lead with 15 kills at Kentucky, one shy of her career-high 16. Alhassan also tied for the team lead with four blocks against the Wildcats, and has now led Florida in blocks 22 of 24 matches this season. She hit .636 vs. Auburn (her eighth time with a .600 clip or better this season) and .478 at Kentucky.

I almost went with Smith as well. Honestly thought Payton Harris looked a bit better and they won. Stat wise it wasn't as close, but Harris went up against LSU hitters and Smith went against Miss State hitters. I would have had Reuter over Alhassan as well for Freshman of the Week but not my call. Nobody stood out offensively from the outside this week other than Reuter. Recek had a good match but Wise rotates those outsides and if one has an average night it hurts their chances to put up meaningful numbers. Right side could have been really interesting this week with Furtado breaking out after her injury this year and Reasor at TAMU had a good match but they played only once this week.

Anyone know why the Florida vs Kentucky match replay still isn't available on ESPN3? Every other SEC match from this weekend is up...
