Freshman team is exactly the six positions and a libero so i have no issue at all with that And Brown and Alhassan are statistically better than Lawerence at the middle position Absolutely no intent to discredit with Alhassan or Brown. Both were great this year and fully deserve the recognition. Just seemed that they lowered the standards to force OH selections after choosing Hutson. McNeil at South Carolina was actually much better statistically than either Reasor or Tillis. I just think Freshmen All SEC should be the 7 best freshmen in the conference, not the best 1 or 2 freshman at each position. If you're a good producer on a crummy team, are you really one of the best players in the conference? Is that a new rule? Same beef I had w people that said McVey should be libero of the year previously.

I think they took two middles and two outsides a setter and right side and libero. I think each of the selections were spot on. I would even put Carly Synder over McNeil but I think they did a solid job on the all SEC freshman team given that they made an actual team. If we were making the team with extras I think you would have to add Leah Lawrenece, Mimi Eugene, Amy Nettles, Hendricksen from Arkansas along with the above McNeil and Synder. But if taking the positions of the court the SEC got it spot on in my opinion

I might consider Filley alongside Hankenson, but Auburn was so poor overall it would've been hard to put her over Hankenson.

SEC gets 5 teams in and they didn't deserve any more than that, but it is a strong 5. Based on the bracket, I'd say for sure that Florida makes the Sweet Sixteen and Kentucky and Alabama make the Round of 32 without much problem. Kentucky has to play a very good Ohio State team to advance to the Sweet Sixteen, but I feel like they could match up well with Wisconsin if they made it that far. Alabama also has a bracket they can really take charge of. I feel like they do have a dark horse shot at knocking off FSU. LSU and Oklahoma will be a toss up, but LSU has no margin for error. If they do get past Oklahoma though, Oregon seems to be as shaky as they come at this point in the season. Texas A&M has by far the toughest road to the Sweet Sixteen for an SEC team. If they can get past a very good ASU club, they unfortunately (and unjustly/annoyingly) have to play Texas for the 3rd year in a row.
AMES #8 Florida vs Alabama State Miami vs. UCF
LOUISVILLE #13 Kentucky vs. Oakland Lipscomb vs. Ohio State
SEATTLE Alabama vs. Samford Jacksonville vs. #6 Florida State
MINNEAPOLIS LSU vs. Oklahoma Santa Clara vs. #10 Oregon
Texas A&M vs. Arizona State Northwestern State vs. #2 Texas

SEC POW - Dec. 1
Offensive Player of the Week
Alex Holston • Florida
Sophomore • RS • 6-1 • Olney, Md.
Holston was one of four Gators in double-digit kills as UF wrapped up the SEC season undefeated against South Carolina last Wednesday for the program's 13th undefeated conference season. She helped UF hit .450 on the night, its second-best offensive efficiency this season. Holston, the SEC Player of the Year, then slammed down a staggering 29 kills as the Gators upset No. 3 Texas in Austin in five on Saturday. Her 29 kills and 32 points were a career high and rank third all-time in UF history in a single match in the rally-scoring era. Holston now has double-figure kills in eight of Florida's last nine matches entering the NCAA Tournament.
Defensive Player of the Week
Katie Lindelow • LSU
Junior • OH • 5-11 • Mandeville, La.
Lindelow earned a new season high and led all players with 22 digs, averaging 5.50 per set in LSU's 3-1 win over South Carolina on Saturday, while helping hold the Gamecocks to a .115 hitting clip. After having just six in the first two sets, Lindelow combined for 16 digs in the final two, including having nine in the third which was the most for any player in any single set on the day and did not have a reception error in 18 attempts.
Freshman of the Week
Emily Franklin • Kentucky
Redshirt Freshman • MB • 6-4 • Mesa, Ariz.
Franklin had a career-high 10 kills on a career-high-tying .500 hitting Wednesday at Auburn. She added four blocks, two solo, and a career-high two digs. The four blocks was second on the team, while she was the only Wildcat to record a solo block. Three days later vs. Arkansas, Franklin had seven kills on .462 hitting with three blocks. On the week, she was tied for third on the team with 17 kills, while her .484 hitting percentage was second-best on the team, along with seven blocks.

Surprised. Not that a change wasn't needed, but she lasted this long. Aside from on the court performance, the plethora of transfers was a clear sign a change was needed. Maybe they actually care about volleyball? Tough gig for whoever takes it, but not impossible if the admin is committed On a side note, looking at players of the week, would be shocked if holston isn't avca player of the week tomorrow. Still trying to figure out why the sec released season awards before the season ended. Not that I really would have changed anything.

UF will have some tough match ups in the tourney, but I am absolutely giddy in the fact that they return all starters except Libero next year!

Alabama got a lucky draw due to regionalization and should make the round of 32 at minimum.
If the right LSU team shows up they could win, this will be a great match with Oklahoma and either team will have a great chance of beating Oregon.
Florida has the easiest path, and deservedly so, and should be primed for a deep run.
Kentucky has a very tough second round match that they could easily lose. tOSU is big and if they are on Kentucky will have to play lights out to win.

Pretty good start for the SEC in the tournament, although pretty much any performance beats last year.
LSU was absolutely dominant and if they play like that they have a shot at taking down an inconsistent Oregon squad. Big IF, but if they can get past Oregon they are in this year's weakest bracket so who knows what kind of noise this team can make.
Alabama got their first ever NCAA win in 5 sets, but beating FSU will be a very tough task. They need to play much better overall.
At least Texas A&M didn't have to get eliminated by Texas for the 3rd year in a row and they put up a solid fight against the #22 ASU team.

Just curious on a couple things, does anyone know why Jackie Napper would have been left off the list for the AVCA Region Awards? Florida libero got honorable mention but not sure she had a better season than Napper who was the SEC libero of the year. Just wondered how selections are made.
Also, I noticed on the SEC community service team that it says one student is chosen from each school, but Tennessee seems to be the only school left off the list. I know like all major schools they participate in community service activities, any reason they would not have been represented on the list?

Thanks for clarifying. On the SEC site Napper was mistakenly left off the list.
