Vb shrink.... I find it interesting that Aubrey Edie the setter at Ole Miss is from Fayetteville. Was she not recruited to Arkansas, did she choose Ole Miss over Arkansas or something else. Living in a college town as a high school student i know it may be the i have got to get away from this place as well. I havent really looked at set location, decision making etc. between the two setters but Edie is doing more statisically with less weapons. What I have heard is that she liked Arkansas but just LOVED her visit to Ole Miss, plus she had the opportunity to play right away as a freshman, rather than sit behind two senior setters last year. I'm not really certain about that, but that's what I've heard here and there from different places. Boy, could they use her!

I watched the SC vs UT match last night. I thought both teams had some solid defensive performances with Cristiaansen at 22 digs, KoKo 27 digs, Hatcher 21 digs, and Villano 19 digs. The teams were fairly evenly matched with some long rallies, however, these long rallies were also the result of both teams not being able to terminate the ball. There is a big difference between the offense of the top teams in the conference and these teams, even SC who is more middle of the pack than UT.
I am admittedly a Vol fan, but I will say that I thought that SC got the benefit of a few questionable ref calls last night. Especially the double hit by the SC setter on match point.

After watching Tenn. play several times this season (and last season as year 1 of rebuilding) I think the problem they have is they have brought in all very good athletic girls for front row that are all raw and don't have high level volleyball skills or IQ yet. They need one or two front row players who have high level volleyball skills to mix in with the raw athletes or it will be another couple years before they see any return of the progression of the current front row players.
As for defense, I think all the bottom 4-6 teams in the SEC have decent to serviceable defensive players, but the passing is average to below average and the reason they are all getting high dig numbers I believe are twofold:
1. Extremely long rallies due to lack of front row being able to terminate (all athletic but not high vball skill set yet) 2. They all struggle with out of system hitting due to passing accuracy and a large number of free-balls are created
Just my observation and opinion

VBprisoner, agree with all of the above. Speaking for UT only, I've noticed that the last 3-4 matches they have switched back to three person serve receive where they were utilizing four person serve receive for the majority of the season. This seems to be working much better for them and the passing has improved allowing the hitters to have more attack attempts. I wish they had made this switch sooner, but hindsight as we all know is 20-20.

Not sure that we can get five in although I think 2, 3 ,4 and 5 are roughly even and at times anyone can beat the other, with Kentucky being slightly better than the others when playing everyone's normal match. It will come down to likely significant losses
TAMU losses outside of expectation UTSA at home Alabama losses to LIU-Brooklyn and Virginia LSU huge loss at Miss State and also a loss to Central Arkansas Kentucky no major weird losses USC and North Carolina both in Top 25
Ole Miss and Arkansas have played their way out of the bubble in my opinion although Ole Miss or Arkansas beating Florida could make their resume fall back onto a pile to sift through

I know quality wins and bad loses are factored in, but the first four do not have any real "ugly" loses.
RPI 7 Florida - Top 8 seed, and if they can pull off upset in Texas will get possible better draw.
13 Kentucky - safely in - probable seed 19 TAMU - safely in 28 Alabama - safely in
38 LSU - was safely in..... until Miss State lose and now is top bubble team. I would put them top 5 of bubble list, but cannot lose any of last 3 matches or will be on the outside looking in. (If they lose 1 of final 3 matches then they do not deserve a bid!)
70 Arkansas - slight chance (need to beat Florida and Kentucky to jump up in RPI and quality wins) NOT HAPPENING! 75 Ole Miss - no chance - only thing they can do is beat TAMU and drop TAMU down the at-large bid list.
I do not want Arkansas to pull a major upset over Florida or Kentucky because it would drop Florida from a top 8 seed, and would probably drop Kentucky from the seeded ranks.

Agree, I think we have to look closely at the auto bid conferences that might have upsets in conference tourney. Teams like UA-Little Rock might take an at large if they lose the conference tourney, and that obviously shrinks the bubble and LSU needs a larger bubble now. I think that extra weekend tourney that they didn't play for whatever reason could hurt because they may have gotten a chance to play a couple of winning small conference teams

The Rebels had their moments versus the Gators. TAMU has a decent body of work. Who stays at home, and what is left to be determined for the SEC?

Florida defeats Arkansas in 4 South Carolina defeats Georgia 3-1 in a barn burner (3 of the 4 sets went extra points) *Ole Miss defeats Alabama in 5 Kentucky sweeps Mississippi State LSU sweeps Auburn TAMU sweeps Mizzou
*what implications does this loss have for Alabama's RPI? Does this win put Ole Miss onto the bubble?

OK SEC fans, as of today I think UF and UK are in no matter what. LSU had an ugly loss, the Tide had a slightly less ugly loss, and TAMU did all they could. Who are the next two or possibly three to make the tourney. Right now, I think LSU is out, Bama, Ole Miss and TAMU are in. What do you think.
