Ho many times did Harmotto, Wilson, or even Slay score forty eight (that is 48) points in a match? That is what I call very dominate. Anyway, I see tremendous potential in Washington on the court. If coaches choose not to develop it further, so be it. So you think Washington has great potential as a 6 rotation player and that the Penn State coaches might not choose to develop this talent? Presumably because they don't recognize it like you do or because they for some other reason don't want to develop the talent on the team? Are you back to having a negative opinion about the coaching at Penn State? Or is it still great coaching but perhaps with a blind spot about seeing Washington's potential? I think PSU's coaching is the very best or else I would have never made such an outrageous claim. It is really up to Washington on how dedicated she might be to develop her back row skills. I seriously doubt PSU will collapse without her in the back row. Everything in life and sports is affected by priorities and choices we make.

Thanks for sharing this info, I was curious what she was doing these days. PSU has had some fine middles but very few were six rotation elite payers, of course the game has changed. I am not convinced yet that Washington could not become a solid back row player like Deja was, though she certainly isn't there now. Why would Washington be needed as a backrow for defense? We have 9 DS'es! Besides, it will be Courtney/Franti before Washington even get a chance anyway. True that Nia Grant played backrow, but it was only because she was a good server. Exactly, she would not be needed. I never said it would happen but in my opinion the potential is there. But I've been wrong before.

I still cannot believe Penn State swept Stanford team led by Logan Tom and Kerri Walsh. I noticed that RR wasn't even wearing a blue sweater so now I wonder when that tradition started. I remember I was shocked. I thought Stanford was going to destroy Penn State after how the Cardinal ripped apart the defending champs in the semis. Penn State outserved and passed Stanford. Practically all the Nittany Lion hitters were firing on all cylinders. I think Stanford was just off more than Penn State was "on." Stanford looked flat out terrible against Penn State, hitting so many balls out of bounds and poor communication. This upset was really shocking when you consider that Stanford had Kerri Walsh AND Logan Tom on the pins and passing 6 rotations. Penn State had a great team that year, but I think Penn State was significantly better in 1998 and 1997 when they had Anderson/Cochran on the pins and Bremner was a more dynamic setter...not to mention Zemaitis in the middle in 97.

Lauren lives in Philadelphia, plays a little but not much. She is an active mom, good contributing citizen and her husband is a minister.

Was Caccimani better than Harmoto? Different eras of volleyball. Hard to compare.
