Oregon running a 6-2 doesn't capitalize on Martenne. I like her on the OH. go to a 5-1

What we'll miss is Brenner's ability to pass 55% of the court, and her competitive intensity. I don't know who else I'd want to take a swing at 13-13 in the fifth. I think you're a bit ignorant of the situation. The line-up you saw is not our intended line-up. TayTay would benefit from a redshirt year, IMO, but she is currently competing with Serena Warner for the M2 position and has a good chance at PT. Our L2 is Frankie Shebby (who has been tearing it up in camp), but she was sick and held out for the weekend by the medical staff. Moore did not expect Agost to have to play this weekend, but at the last minute thought it less disruptive to keep the 6-2 amnd not move Martenne over, because Agost can play OH well enough (and that will likely be her place once she learns to pass). That girl is going to be bouncing balls before she is done, but I agree she needs some more time in the oven to reach her full potential. Martenne's funky armswing also makes it really hard for her at L2. At Opp, she is able to benefit from (a) a really quick, deceptive setter who puts her in good situations and (b) her superior discipline and footwork (ability to take that inside-out approach and still crank that ball) letting her hit in transition at a tempo the defense is not prepared for. It's the Bergsma model for success, but she doesn't have quite that arm so we'll see if she is able to hit .400 (like she did this weekend) once teams have some video on her. Bettendorf also just has a really good sense for blocking on the right-side. Edit: MB hit .115 in conference as L2 last year. I don't think that's a recipe for success. Brenner is a very strong passer. No argument there. I don't think moving Agost to the middle would be the best use of her talent. She has the potential to be an outstanding collegiate outside hitter. Whether or not she lives up to this potential is a whole different story, but again, I redshirting her this year and giving her a chance to work on her technique would be the best thing for her to do now. Her stats were pretty good against Illinois State, but she's not going to have that kind of success against Stanford, USC, Washington, etc. Martenne looked very good on the right. But if Shebby's only out for a week, go with a 5-1 for the weekend. Don't waste a year of Agost's eligibility when she's clearly not ready to play. Too late now, Agosts year is gone, no chance to be a redshirt.

Jerritt announced at Point Texas last night that Texas will be hosting this event next season in Austin. He called it the new "Nike Big 4" but guesses it'll have a new name since Nebraska is Addidas.
Take this with a grain of salt because during the Nike Big 4 series, he also announced that the year Texas was hosting a regional they would also be hosting the Big 4. That didn't happen.
He wants to play Nebraska and Oregon and set up another time to play Florida.

Having only watched Brenner against WA, she didn't seem to get off the ground...at all. She hit into the block...a lot. I believe she has regressed. She also seemed to rarely touch balls blocking. Passing was good. Not sure she's overrated, but I certainly don't think she's underrated.

I wasn't sure who OR was playing because I didn't watch it that intently. I did notice Brenner because the broadcast team pointed her out several times and I've watched her in years past.

She had a rough match against Stanford (which is what you were probably watching). 2 days later she hit over .600 on 5 kps against Cal and she has a higher hitting % this year than her 2nd team AA clip from last year. She's also averaging a ridiculous 3.2+ dps.

He was referring to how playing even one match means a player is ineligible for a voluntary (non-medical) redshirt. However, considering she's been in a boot she may have a case for a medical redshirt. She's plays fewer than the maximum (10) matches. Depends on how soon she'll be back and the wisdom of pushing another schollie into the 2015 class is though.

Makes sense, but gosh she's played so little (in 7 matches) and I can't help but think one extra year of maturity in the volleyball sense would make her a real threat in her RS/Senior year. I guess we'll have to see how the season plays out. Given her 'next off the bench status' she will remain an insurance policy in the event (God forbid) some one goes down in the front row.

Anyone know what the LHN's plans for televising this are? Barring that, Texas' plans to stream?

Anyone know what the LHN's plans for televising this are? Barring that, Texas' plans to stream? Texas' matches will be aired LIVE on LHN. If your cable carrier offers LHN, I believe you can watch on ESPN3.com. The other non-Texas matches could be aired LIVE, but I think the Friday early match between Oregon & Florida stands a better chance than the Saturday matche between Nebraska & Oregon. Texas football plays @ Notre Dame that Saturday at 6:30 PM CST on NBC; so, I bet Texas vs Florida will be the early Saturday afternoon match, and the other match will follow. But, I'm guessing LHN will be doing football pre-game shows all afternoon, so no NU/UO match LIVE. Two years ago, I recall all matches were aired on LHN, but don't think the non-Texas matches were LIVE. But, they were replayed later that night/weekend. www.texassports.com/schedule.aspx?path=wvball
