Funny thing is that Creighton is still ahead of NU in terms of hitting percentage, both low, .133 to .128.

Nebraska in four, winning the final set 25-20. Congratulations to the Huskers after a slow start.

SETTING FOR NEBRASKA WAS HORRIFIC TONIGHT!
Kadie Rolfzen, if she keeps improving over the next few years, she will be on team USA.

SETTING FOR NEBRASKA WAS HORRIFIC TONIGHT! Kadie Rolfzen, if she keeps improving over the next few years, she will be on team USA. That's an understatement. Mary is having a horrid year so far. Just home from the match. If the Huskers play like they did tonight against Texas, it might be uglier than the Stanford match.

Looking at this team now, it's the same problem they had last year except there isn't Robo to bail everyone out. Rough sailing ahead. Hopefully I'll eat my words because I want this team to do well and it's still early in the season, but....

I think we're now at the point that we can openly question if Mary is a net positive or net negative to this team. She's a good leader and a good kid, but I've seen her outplayed by most setters in the matches I've watched this year. I think NU would kill to have Baumert (Creighton's setter) running them this year. Mary cannot connect well with her middles at all. Her first two sets to Keil looked abysmal. They finally got the slide to work a little bit with Haggerty (and much to my amazement, Cece Hall), but Nebraska is going to go into the Big Ten with the inferior setter in most of their matches.
Right now, I think Nebraska is lucky if they go .500 in Big Ten play. Texas will kill them Saturday and probably get somewhere between 12-15 blocks.

You kind of wonder after tonight if they were developing some "false" confidence playing teams like Colgate and Denver? They come into tonight and for whatever reason, can't get it going against a solid, but not top 25 Creighton team. The offensive struggles this team is facing against quality teams doesn't look to be getting better. Texas will be an ENORMOUS challenge for Nebraska at this point. I see Texas winning in 3 as they seem to be getting some of the pieces put together and Eckerman is back up to hitting in the mid .200's and their middles and right sides are hitting very well. Texas knows they can win in the Bob so the crowd will not affect them. The block for Texas is going to have a great night if Nebraska can't develop more consistency in their offense. The positive thing for the Huskers is I believe they open up conference playing Iowa twice which right now doesn't look to be as easy as it once was but still not opening with Penn State or Wisconsin after the Texas match.

There is nothing to hide anymore regarding Nebraska's start this season. It is clearly setting! Whether the pass is bad or good, it doesn't matter, She can't set the middles or the right side AT ALL. In fact, it is worse this season then last. Timing is an issue with middle, but ball placement is even worse when the timing is there. Ball placement to the OH's is even questionable. Lots of trap setting and limits shots for them. I'd like to see NEB's offensive hitting numbers as a team and average them against rated teams.
Also, the predictability on where Mary is going to set the ball is high school level. Always notice that blockers are all over our hitters. No matter the position, there is easily always two blockers up, sealed and locked. The speed of the sets and everything. Just pushes down the team!
This is the first reason the team crumbles. It's the seed. After setting goes to hell quite early, then emotions and nervousness set in by the hitters trying too hard and start making errors rather than just keeping the ball in play. Then there passing goes down the drain. But it all starts with Pollmiller, sorry.
She didn't develop! The team isn't able to go full stride because of this. The talent Nebraska has is very limited.
I like red shirting Hunter, i do. BUT THEY GOT TO WORK WITH MARY! THEY GOT TO GET THIS FIGURED OUT!

If you thought that you were going to position yourself to compete for a national championship in the next two years why would you redshirt Hunter? Wouldn't you want her to have experience as the starting setter?

It starts at the top - This is Cook's baby. There have been coaches before him to reach the top of the mountain only to fall. It will be a long year if this does not get any better.

This is what perplexes me. I was a Polmiller fan. I didn't think she was the best setter in the Big but after last years performance would have placed her in the top three. This season, she has looked like a different player all together. I understand the Robo connection. I do think our passes are more challenging but...... even with a fairly good pass, her placement to the right and middles is either right on or terrible. I feel bad for her. I have no idea if its mental?? Or is it capability? She struggled last year with the right and middle a little bit but nothing like this.

Mary had Robinson last year. Robinson was her security blanket. Robo's passing and ability to get kills even in less than ideal sets covered up for a lot of Mary's weaknesses. It makes you wonder if all this talk from Cook was just smoke to get Mary and the team to believe in her.

I would also add that Mary's sets to the OH have also been iffy at best. Last night was hard to watch.
