I don't think too many people felt there was much of a chance for Cal to have a great year.
But did anyone really predict that Cal could start 0-7?!

All I can say is this year the Pac is definitely better than the Big 10. Washington and Stanford are legit final 4 contenders. With that said, I would say this year is Washington's best chance for a National championship as they have a senior Vansant on the left side. Next year will be a whole lot tougher though without her and some of the other teams in the conference gaining top recruits. Stanford is a formidable team but is prone to inconsistencies. Next year I expect Stanford to be the top Pac 12 with Hodson as a freshman together with 4 seniors on the team.

Strange in the PAC-12 they keep the top two teams from playing the first half of the season for possibly ranking reason while the Big Ten does just the opposite for questionable reasons. I wonder why?

I wonder why? Lick of the draw. This year is thr scheduled year for Washington and Bay Area teams to play each other once. They meet their opponent the fist conference e week then play the other traveling partner st (UW orWSU;;;Cal or Stanford) the last week. Will rotate again next year. I believe next year the Bay Area and LA schools should play each other once, if rotation hold. Could be wrong.

Strange in the PAC-12 they keep the top two teams from playing the first half of the season for possibly ranking reason while the Big Ten does just the opposite for questionable reasons. I wonder why? The thought of your assumption that the Pac-12 schedulers even remotely have this kind of foresight or concern is laughable. When the conference decided to add an additional week of non conference play, and, in return, skip a week of conference play, they laid out a long term matrix of which teams would skip each other and when. Stanford and Washington only playing each other once THIS year, was set in stone a few years ago. You are kidding yourself if you think that the results that have transpired this year have any bearing on conference pairings and home and away schedules. It's pure luck, plain and simple. In about 6 years when the Washington and Northern California schools skip each other again, Washington will play, only once, @ Stanford. And you are really only saying this this in hindsight. Had either one of these teams not been very good this year, I doubt you make this comment. The reality is that both of these programs almost always finish at or near the top of the conference, whether they play each other twice or not. They were going to have to skip each other sometime, period...it just happens to be this year, no conspiracy or other agenda necessary (except playing the RPI game for getting rid of a week of conference play).
