The top 4 are virtually locked in at this point and most likely will be locked a week from now. The figstats RPI has Creighton 23, Marquette 29, Villanova 35 and Xavier 81. Xavier is only getting in by winning the tournament. The same site has Purdue 31 and Northwestern 34 by comparison.

Are the 4 teams for the conference tournament set yet?
Creighton with 1 loss looks like a shoe in to win the league; Xavier with 3 Villanova and Marquette with 4 and 3 or 4 matches to play. Creighton has Xavier Butler and Georgetown left, Xavier has Creighton Georgetown DePaul and Marquette, Villanova has Seton Hall, St John and Providence.

The 4 teams are pretty much decided, but the order isn't just yet.
Villanova went down to Xavier and Butler this weekend -- not good for their at-large chances.

Looks like Villanova, Xavier, Creighton, and Marquette will be the 4 teams in the conference tournament. Right now it would be Creighton vs. Marquette and Xavier vs. Villanova. If Marquette loses to Creighton, then would they still get into the tournament? Also if either Xavier or Villanova wins the 2 vs 3 match but then loses to the winner of Creighton vs Marquette, would they still have chance at getting into the tourney?
Kinda weird how things played out. I did not expect Villanova to be in the top 4. I also expected Marquette to do a lot better. They had a pretty good preseason but they have lost several matches in conference.

Looking at the current RPI, as well as the RPI Futures from last week, I would say Marquette is a lock for a tournament bid. Villanova appears to be in the bubble range (mid-40's), but I think they have a decent shot at a bid. With an RPI in the 60's, the only hope for Xavier to make the NCAA field is to win the Big East Tournament.

Right now it would be Creighton vs. Marquette and Xavier vs. Villanova. This lineup is by far the most likely. Creighton is locked in as the #1 seed. Villanova would clinch the #2 seed with a win over 1-15 Providence on Friday. Xavier will be the #3 seed unless they either A) lose to both DePaul and Marquette at home this weekend while Marquette also defeats DePaul, or B) defeat DePaul but are swept by Marquette and score less than 58 points in the process, and Marquette also defeats DePaul. If scenario A or B happens, Marquette would be the #3 and Xavier the #4. If not, Marquette is locked in as the #4. The season ends this weekend for St. John's, Butler, Seton Hall, DePaul, Georgetown, and Providence.

If Villanova were to lose to St. John's or providence and Xavier sweeps the weekend isn't Xavier the 2?

If Villanova were to lose to St. John's or providence and Xavier sweeps the weekend isn't Xavier the 2? Whoops, you are correct. Villanova defeated Providence, but if they lose to St. John's and Xavier beats Marquette today, then Xavier would be the 2. If both win, Villanova owns the tiebreaker and would be the 2. It doesn't really matter much since the 2 and 3 face each other in the first match. Marquette must sweep Xavier and hold the Musketeers to <58 points or Marquette will face Creighton in the semifinal round.

Well, its for sure now. Marquette is the #4 seed and takes on #1 Creighton in the Big East Tournament. Marquette might have some reason to be a little nervous on Selection Sunday if they don't win that much. Villanova is even more uncomfortable than Marquette, they are surely a bubble team. The only safe team is Creighton.
Xavier, is the real wrench in the equation. The stunner would be if Xavier won the tournament, and how many teams would get in if Xavier did? Could all four? Or Just X and Creighton?
Should make for an exciting tournament!
