I know that these aren't all spot on but a majority are IMO. What do you guys think? All American Predictions: First Team All American:
Inky Ajanaku, MB, Stanford Micha Hancock, S, Penn State Krista Vansant, OH, Washington Karsta Lowe, RS, UCLA Maddie Pingdon, OH, Arizona Haley Eckerman, OH, Texas Lauren Carlini, S, Wisconsin Samantha Bricio, OH, USC Megan Courtney, OH, Penn State Madi Bugg, S, Stanford Courtney Thomas, RS, Wisconsin Kory Moster, L, Michigan State Taylor Morey, L, Wisconsin Khat Bell, MB-RS, Texas Merete Lutz, MB, Stanford Second Team All-American:Nia Grant, MB, Penn State Chiaka Ogbogu, MB, Texas Jocelynn Birks, OH, Illinois Jordan Burgess, OH, Stanford Ebony Nwanebu, RS, USC Annie Drews, OH, Purdue Kadie Rolfzen, OH, Nebraska Kyle Gilbert, L, Stanford Chelsea Albers, RS, Kansas Whitney Young, RS, BYU Panina Snuka, S, Arizona Ainise Havali, S, Kansas Cailin Nolan, L, ISU Abby Cole, MB, Michigan Martenne Betandorf, RS, Oregon Third Team All-Americans:Daly Santana, OH, Minnesota Paige Tapp, MB, Minnesota Dominique Gonzales, L, Penn State Taylor Simpson, OH, Colorado Alli Franti, OH, Penn State Chloe Collins, S, Texas Jordan Anderson, OH, WVU Tia Scambray, OH, Washington Mary Pollmiller, S, Nebraska Dominque Thompson, MB, Wisconsin Christina Higgins, RS, California Macy Gardner, OH, Arizona State Morgan Boukather, RS, Stanford Liz McMahon, RS, Illinois Rhamat Allhassan, MB, Florida My updated list: 1st Team All-Americans: Inky Ajanaku-Stanford Micha Hancock-Penn State Lauren Carlini-Wisconsin Courtney Thomas-Wisconsin Nicole Walch-Florida State Jen Hamson-BYU KarstaLowe-UCLA Val Nichol-Purdue Jocelynn Birks-Illinois Khat Bell-Texas Maddie Kingdon-Arizona Alex Holston-Florida Krista Vansant-Washington Lianna Sybeldin-Washington 2nd Team All-Americons: Rhamat Alhassan-Florida Nia Grant-Penn State Haley Eckerman-Texas Morgan Boukather-Stanford Kelsey Snider-Colorado State Ali Frantti-Penn State Maddie Bugg-Stanford Liz McMahon-Illinois Macey Gardner-Arizona State Annie Drews-Purdue Marnie Bettendorf-Oregon Taylor Morey-Wisconsin Morgan Bergren-Kentucky Kadie Rolfzen-Nebraska 3rd Teamers: Samantha Bricio-USC Chiaka Ogbogu-Texas Ellen Chapman-Wisconsin Sarah Burrington-Florida State Aiyana Whitney-Penn State Megan Courtney-Penn State Alexa Gray-BYU Chanel Nelson-North Carolina Chloe Reinig-Michigan State Jordan Burgess-Stanford Merete Lutz-Stanford Kyle Gilbert-Stanford Abby Cole-Michigan Kori Moster-Michigan State No one from USC is getting 1st Team with their performance this year, even though Bricio has been great. Nwanebu isn't an AA candidate at this point in the year. Texas is hard because nobody has eye popping stats, but as a poster mentioned in another threat, Bell is having a better season than Eckerman thus far so she gets the nod for first team. After conference seasons play out, I wouldn't be surprised to see 1-2 of Whitney/Grant/Frantti/Courtney drop from the radar, and for Bell/Eckerman to shine. Eckerman is 1st team, easy along with Bell.

Speaking on the very narrow topic of various Badgers on the proposed lists, I think Thomas and Carlini are solidly on the list, although I was surprised that Thomas only averages 2.7 kps. (she's had some bad matches/matchups - PSU and at least one other, which have brought both her hitting percentage and kps down).
Chapman is only hitting .251, and has relatively low blocking numbers, and 3.15 kps.
Thompson hits for a good average, .374, but again under 3 kps.
Morey, well that would be nice. 5.34 dps. .960 receiving rate.
Even in their best years, the Badgers have never had more than 2 AAs.
It's an honor at least to have all those Badgers in the conversation.

Magill is averaging more kills, blocks and is hitting for a higher percentage than most of those middles on the list and she's not on anyone's list? Maybe they're looking at players who are on ranked teams...

I won't type out my list cuz that will take too much time lol However ill edit ur list and give u my opinion Kingdon- 2nd team Bricio-2nd Lutz- 2nd or 3rd Taylor Simpson- 1st her stats is a first teamer ... As a Buffs fan, thanks so much for the Taylor Simpson mention. The Buffs had major off years from 2007-2012. And, and even last year when the Buffs finally made the tournament again, the stats were much lower than this year. So, I haven't been motivated those years to see how much these All American awards are generally based on overall reputation and/ or how the team does vs. how much is just looking at stats vs. maybe other ( ) factors. (I know I've read many times in volleytalk the POY award is usually the best player/ player with best stats from a final 4 team.) Just comparing her stats to Ms. Kingdon's, for example, Ms. Simpson's stats look like they are just a little lower in some other categories (although they are VERY close looking only at conference matches, with Ms. Simpson actually having a slightly higher pts./game ave.) EXCEPT that Ms. Simpson's kill % is significantly higher both in overall matches (.313 vs. .233) and (even more so) in conference matches (.333 vs. .154). (Because the Buffs were nursing some injuries to key players and breaking in quite a few young inexperienced players in non-conference play, the Buffs have better offensive stats in their Pac 12 matches, even with the much tougher competition they've faced overall (excl. a match against Illinois) in the Pac 12.) Of course, with her having to miss her last match (concussion precaution), I mainly hope Ms. Simpson gets to feeling better soon for her own sake. And selfishly as a fan, I hope that's ideally as soon as possible, with tough upcoming road trips the next two weeks to the Washington and then the Arizona schools.

I wonder if Haleigh Washington, now hitting .472, will get any recognition since she started the season injured?

Did inky lead the country in hitting percentage? Lutz is playing amazing. So Is sybeldon. Both have first team numbers At MB, both hitting and blocking matter: Ajanaku: .472 (3rd), 1.23 blocks/set (55th) Sybeldon: .409 (21st), 1.67 blocks/set (2nd) Lutz: .481 (1st), 1.07 blocks/set (144th)

In 2012 Inky was a highly respected freshman MB for Stanford playing with first-teamer Wopat. This year it is now Lutz playing with first-teamer Inky.

The badgers run a very balanced offense, so none of the hitters are going to get many more kill/s than any other, and there are only so many kills to go around. That hurts their chances for sure. Carlini is obvious candidate and I think Morey performance so far justifies her being considered. Thomas gets on for her pivotal role in the team as well as her greatly improved hitting. I agree...it is great that three badgers are even being considered at this point. Long may it continue.

As a Stanford fan, I've been super impressed with Lutz. And Boukather. Having said that, I can't see Lutz being anything more than 3rd team which is still a great accomplishment. And maybe ditto for Boukather. There a lot of good opposites out there, even just within the pac12, and I'm not sure Boukather has really distinguished herself from Nelson, Bettendorf, etc. Also, I'm pretty sure Bugg will be a first teamer. Maybe over Nichol.

I think we'll need to see improvement in Lutz's blocking numbers maybe into the 1.2 or 1.3 range before 2nd team even enters the discussion. I actually think she has made some strides since the beginning of the season, but there are times she gets fooled badly (poor reads), and of course her footwork needs speed (not the drug), and she drops her arms too often in situations where she needs to keep them extended over the net. Boukather is a solid consistent performer who might merit up to 2nd team AA, but with the # of great pin hitters in the Pac-12, I don't see her going higher than 3rd team or HM. The numbers would have to go up in the last half of the season especially against teams like UW, UCLA, and Oregon.

I've only seen BYU play and they have three athletes who I imagine will be in the mix: Hamson, Young, and Gray. Fantastic players!

Gray has been off this year compared to last year, or at least she was in the early part of the season. (I don't remember Young, but I see she is leading the nation in blocking.)

If I was making a team, the players from the PAC (conference I've watxhed the most matches from) on the first team would be LOWE, Vansant, sybeldon, inky, bugg and boukather. Lutz maybe, but again, she is a frosh and her blocking numbers aren't great. Players on the second team would be lutz, brenner, bricio, KingDon, Simpson
Third team I would have scambray, Gardner and gilbert.

Once again your not stating fact. She has 125 kills 1.79 k/s .409% 1.67 blks Consider her attempts due to playing behind two all American on her team Seriously, anybody who has watched her play will know she is having at least a 2nd team season. And the farther Washington goes undefeated, and the longer the team stays up in the top 5 of the polls, the more AVCA voters will have watched her play. Lutz is good, sure, but nobody would vote Lutz over Sybeldon, and you have Lutz at first team! I don't even think many Stanford fans would do so. Middle play is a balance between offense and defense, and Sybeldon is probably the best middle in the country right now at balancing those two factors. Inky is the best middle in the PAC, but Lianna is a close #2. IMO, Sybeldon needs to be seen in person to really appreciate her. She does so much that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. She really impressed me when they played BYU, but haven't noticed her as much when watching on TV. Speaking of BYU, Jennifer Hamson fit in on any of these teams?
