This is my most eagerly anticipated match of the season so far. If Illinois' middles execute like they have been I think they win this one on the road (in 5). Purdue is a fantastic team but has not been battle-tested to date, I also think their play on the left-side holds them back from being one of the very best teams in the Big Ten. Watched them against PSU and while of course they can alter your game the Purdue OHs hit a lot of balls out and couldn't seem to deliver a kill when necessary like the Birks, Franttis, and Daly Santanas of the world. While our left side struggled with blocking vs PSU the rest doesn't add up. Purdue OHs 4 Epenesa, Sam........ 5| 17 4 39 .333| 0| 0 0| 2| 3| 0 3 0| 0 5 Evans, Ashley....... 5| 4 0 6 .667| 1| 1 0| 3| 13| 0 1 0| 1 10 Stahl, Azariah...... 5| 7 3 14 .286| 0| 0 0| 0| 1| 0 0 1| 0 PSU OHs 5 Frantti,Ali......... 5| 16 8 48 .167| 0| 1 2| 1| 7| 0 1 0| 0 17 Courtney,Megan...... 5| 8 4 24 .167| 0| 0 0| 1| 14| 0 5 1| 0 14 Whitney,Aiyana...... 5| 18 9 44 .205| 0| 0 0| 0| 2| 0 3 0| 0 22 Lee,Simone.......... 1| 0 0 1 .000| 0| 0 0| 0| 0| 0 0 0| 0

This is my most eagerly anticipated match of the season so far. If Illinois' middles execute like they have been I think they win this one on the road (in 5). Except they are not on the road, they are at home. I'll give you Birks but Purdue's OH stack up just fine against Frantti and Santana. Epenesa, Stahl and Evans can deliver goods.

Ohh this is at Illinois? Hmmm...this will be a tough match for Purdue then. Last year they had a bit of trouble away from home. Haven't been tested that much away this year in the B1G. Will Illinois show up? You'd think so, but it seems they get unbalanced at times. We'll see. Interesting matchup.

I'm surprised Purdue is getting so many votes here while in the PTW thread everyone is picking Illinois. Different samples I suspect, this vote is mostly partisans, while PTW goes across the board. Lots of talent on both sides of the net, but the more experienced Illini should win this.

10-6 Illini. Cuttino got a kill in a way I hadn't seen before. She got blocked, but the ball came back, went off her, and had a ricochet to the other side and dropped for a point.

16-13 Illini. Birks getting blocked and also making errors out of system. Actually, not a lot of in system play thus far.

20-15 Illini. They are doing a good job of slowing down Drews.

24-19 Illini. Defenders flying around and making plays on both sides, but a lot of out of system hits and a lot of errors.
