I'm sorry but Naya is not ready for prime time. Maybe next year but she is costing the team points and a hitting option. Either switch to a 5-1 with ashen setting or use agost in Nayas position.

Do you really need to say who calls the timeout? It's somewhat obvious given the flow of the match. Actually, there were two timeouts during this match where it was NOT at all obvious who had called the time out. And the announcing crew made no mention of it. Just seems to me to be a basic requirement of the broadcast. If you're not going to show the coach calling the time out, if you're not going to put up a graphic, then say it. How much effort would it be to say, "Time-out Oregon, their first." Like so many of these broadcasters, they're having a gabfest that frequently has very little to do with what's happening at that moment in the match.

After the UW match, I brought up switching to a 5-1 (http://volleytalk.proboards.com/post/1201732/thread), but Crittenden had some good offensive matches in LA that made me think she might have turned the corner. Still, she's only hitting .122 in conference, and Martenne can be a bigger threat from the back row. The other big issue is that, as long as Agost is out, we don't have a solid sub for her, so we have to stick with her even when she's struggling. I wonder if Moore does try a bit of the 5-1 in the Cal match. I really don't know why you'd want Ashen setting it though, Scott is the stronger setter. Scott got pulled when the 5th set went badly, but we were winning more points and making fewer errors with Scott in there over the first 4 sets. It'd still be good to have Ashen as a back-up option.
I think it would also really help Liz and Frankie to only be hitting off of one setter. The left pin set is also the one that differs the most between the setters.
On the good side, I think Benson and Keoho(!) had very good matches. Gardner hurt us in the 2nd and somewhat in the 4th, but I don't think ASU was doing all that much that we wouldn't have been able to overcome. We just weren't able to put the ball down when needed, and worse, were putting it straight into the block or wide too often. That we don't have a back row threat is really problematic when 1 or 2 of our front row players are struggling.

I agree, Benson and Keoho have been very good. I can see why they decided to play Keoho this year.

Duck's right side hitter, Bettendorf reminds me of Kindra Carlson at UW (2007-10). Nice to see her playing much better than last two seasons at left position.

Wow, great comeback by ASU. Would not want to be in the locker room with J-Moo. J-Moo. Nice ring to it.
