Honestly, when it comes to the Gophers, what more can be said?? Went from being top dog to bottom-feaders in 8 months. It's disappointing, but it's not turning around, so we'll have to get used to it.

This one hurts....After a marginal preseason SOS, Minnesota can't lose matches like this an expect to make the tournament. Either they turn their season around, like, now, or the NCAA breaks all objective standards and gives Minnesota a bid because they are hosting....I don't see any other way Minnesota makes the tournament this year.

Gophers lose 33-35 off a service that was called in on the sideline. Looked out to me, but they didn't show a replay. Tough way to lose especially since Indiana doubled the point before which wasn't called.

I was watching the Wisconsin/Purdue match on BTN and they broke in with this game. Man there was such a huge jump in level of play from Wisc/Pur to MN/Ind - the aggressiveness, defense and hitting were so much better with the Badgers and Boilers.

How did Handley's setting look overall compared to Schau's?
(Hopefully I can actually view the match on Friday.)

No post season for this team. How embarrassing. He better get a couple of hitters for next year or it won't get much better.

Yep. The rest of this season will be all about who can help next year.
Not that they have a heck of a lot of options for 2015. Transfers are generally not the answer.

With transfer Cumpston playing an important role, Minn made the elite 8 in 2006. With transfer Carico playing a critical role, Minn made the ff in 2009. With transfers Knutsen and Palmer playing critical roles, Minn made the elite 8 in 2012. Transfers aren't a long term solution if the coaching staff can't recruit well, but they can very well be the answer short term.

Guess MN does need some impact transfers for 2015.

GENERALLY, kids who leave other programs are not the best answer. Generally.

Minnesota fans pretty much have to pin their hopes for next year on a new setter making everyone on the court better. (Meanwhile, it helps if, like me, you're also a fan of Gopher women's basketball. They're about to start their season and they're going to be terrific.) That, or Taylor Morgan makes great strides.

They just don't have anyone to terminate. SSS won't solve that.

Look at the OH's of the top teams in the B1G (Penn St, Wisc, and ILL) and it's not too hard to see what is needed. An offense consisting primarily of tips and roll shots will not work in the B1G much less to compete for a national title.
