This will be UCLA's first real home match in the John Wooden Center. My guess is that they will be ready and primed for the Huskies after a week's preparation. This should be a good barometer of where the Huskies stand right now and -- win or lose -- should be a match to learn from and build on.
Here's my wish list for the match (looking through my usual purple-tinted glasses):
1. UW serves tough and passes well (always my first wish) 2. UW remains as mentally focused as they have all season during crunch time 3. UW's setters have a good all-around night, improving location of their sets (a worrisome issue as we enter the last month of the regular season) 4. Lianna Sybeldon has a big night, blocking and hitting (Lianna has sometimes been missing in action lately, though partly that is the connection with the setters) 5. The UW block regains the dominance it had earlier in the season; it has not been that impressive the last few matches 6. Vansant is Vansant 7. Jones/Nelson get a healthy percentage of swings -- the way they are terminating, they deserve more 8. Cassie Strickland looks like the Cassie we saw on Wednesday at the Galen Center 9. Melanie Wade has a big serving and blocking night
What would other folks like to see (feel free to chime in here, UCLA fans)?

Speaking of free, I saw on the UCLA twitter feed today that admission is FREE Friday night. Guess they need to get fans re-acclimated to volleyball at Wooden. What I'd LIKE to see is a UW sweep: 25-6 25-2; 25-0. Followed by Dunning being so spooked he forfeits and refuses to bring Stanford to Seattle.

I'll add one more to the wish list that started this thread:
10. Feed the middle. Then feed the middle some more. Against UCLA, this could be particularly effective. But only if the Huskies execute my #1 wish: serve strong and pass well.

UCLA is one of the worst blocking teams in the top 25...If they are serving and passing well UW should run a balanced attack.

This match is a trap for Washington UCLA believes they can play with Washington. The Huskies also have been playing everyone close lately they better be on tonight or this could be an upset in the making. Word is Karsta Lowe is dressing up as Godzilla and is going in for the kill.

Vansant is Vansant, C. They contain Lowe around .300 or lower....everything else isn't necessary.

11. Find a way, any way, to slow down Karsta Lowe.

Word is Karsta Lowe is dressing up as Godzilla and is going in for the kill. I don't think this is a "trap" match in the sense that UW is overlooking or underestimating UCLA. Hell, UCLA took them to five sets not very long ago and Karsta Lowe did a lot of block-shredding in the process. So I think that UW will be ready, but that doesn't always translate into victory. I expect another close match.

Actually, you'll find the head of the network up in one of those suites eating crab legs and shrimp...
