ASU broke their single game attendance record this year, just a few weeks ago against Washington-4185. Not too shabby! After they let football fans in for free... Yes, as I understand it people were queuing to get into the ASU football game the next day. They somehow noted where they were in line and let them in for free to the volleyball match. Almost as good as having the opening practice of basketball season starting at 12:01am and allowing people who attended the volleyball match to stay and watch (I think that was Arizona and they practically packed the place).

I'm all for such gimmicks. Anything to get people to attend volleyball matches

Anyone who has been to Galen knows that it's in the middle of a very busy part of the USC campus, with parking structures fifty yards away. Nobody is looking over their shoulder for imaginary Crips. C'mon, folks. Totally agree. Unless you deviate away from campus, it feels absolutely safe, and even if you do it's not like stray bullets are flying left and right. It just looks... tougher and grittier. Kind of an overblown perception of how unsafe it is I think.

I enjoy attending matches at Galen Center (USC), UCLA and the Pyramid (Long Beach State). I have also been to LMU and Pepperdine, which are good facilities. I HATE the Pac-12 schedules. I can't go to weekday night games because of work. I have NEVER seen Stanford play USC at the Galen Center because the games are always on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I missed out on seeing Washington because there game with USC was on Wednesday. I could have seen them play UCLA in Pepperdine on Friday the 31st, until the game got moved to 6:00 at UCLA, which was too early. Sunday games are great. I loved the 5PM USC-Washington game at Galen last season. The problem with the Pac 12 is that there are almost no Saturday games and most of the best matchups are not played on Sunday. I really like the Big West Friday-Saturday schedule format.
I think it was a huge mistake for the Pac 10 to add Colorado and Utah when you look at all sports. They honestly haven't added much to the conference. Hawaii and San Diego State would have been much better choices to add to the conference.
USC should market their team and their best player (Samantha Bricio) to the huge Mexican-American population in L.A. The local Latino community would fall in love with Bricio (from Guadalajara, Mexico) if they just knew about her and saw her play. That's a no brainer. F

Hawaii and San Diego State would have been much better choices to add to the conference. That was never going to happen.

C'mon, folks. I do all the time and I have my pepper spray ready. The Galen is right next to the freeway.

It's not the first time bigfan has expressed his so-cal big city gang paranoia.................they specifically know someone in a gang, or are in prison. Better safe than sorry. Its just when I take the LA EXPO to the Galen center and see men with shaved heads and tattoos on their neck and arms on the trains that I feel really sociable and start talking to then about the virtues of Kant, Einstein and Obama care.
