I wonder how you account for injuries/sickness/suspensions? I know that they do look at this for Men's Basketball selection. This can be a slippery slope. My recollection, as it relates to Men's Basketball, is that injuries only enter into the process if they happen late in the season (and probably to a key player) so that the overall strength of the team is negatively impacted. I believe the fact that a player missed significant time earlier in the season is irrelevant. Yea - that is how I remember it working. A team that has a current/recent injury could have their seeding in the tournament downgraded. The example I can think of is Kenyon Martin at Cincinnati is 2000. Martin was player of the year and Cincinnati was the #1 team in the country at the end of the season, when Martin broke his leg in the Conference USA tournament and was out for the NCAA tournament. Cincinnati was dropped to a 2 seed in the South region and lost in the 2nd round.

Who would have thought that a stacked team like USC would be a bubble team after series of multiple final 4 and elite 8 appearances? Is it the start of their decline?

Shows how important a good libero and setter are. That is true, but having a healthy Nwanebu would probably have made their season a little different. Although she may be playing better as of late she is no where near 100%.

If Baylor Beats Iowa State that would be 3 top 25 wins. 4 top 50 wins. More than almost all the teams in the RPI range from 35-55. Most have 0 top 25 wins. No Big 12 team has ever won 3 top 25 matches and not received a bid as far as I know. Sooo, we will see. And Baylor gets swept by RPI power West Virginia. That keeps Baylor in contention for last place in the Big 12 as their 4 conference wins trump Texas Tech's 3 conference wins. It all comes down to the final week for these two teams who once again padded their win column with a weak non conference schedule. And to think Tech was undefeated (12-0) when conference play began.
But now that Baylor has been officially eliminated from the NCAA Tournament hunt with a sub .500 record, I predict the refrain will be that if only they had finished at .500 they would have made it because no Big 12 team with 3 top 25 wins has been denied a bid!
But Baylor did hold Texas to its lowest hitting percentage of the season at .179.

Ohio will be on pins and needles in front of the TV this Sunday. Match at Dayton on Friday has now become very important.

Whit playing well but there's a backrow piece missing.

Ohio lost in five sets at Dayton, losing last the two matches will not look good to the committee.

Virginia Tech has a lot of losses, as others have said the Committee may look at big wins before losses but you need to cut off someplace.
Miami is a classic case of RPI overdose. One or no top 50 wins, yet a 28 RpI that is a tivket to the tournament.
