No NCAA bid for MN. One more match to get through on Friday and then we can put this season to rest. I'll be cheering the Badgers on in the NCAAs.

Game 5 was like a repeat of game 5 of the Nebraska match...totally in the game until the changeover (down 8-6 in this game...down 8-7 in the Nebraska game)...and then the Gophers couldn't score. So frustrating!

Oh Gophers, I'm so sorry.
I'm gonna say the athletic department jinxed it by raising prices.

It was like Gopher basketball tonight. Outscored 15-2 down the stretch. I think the announcers said MN didn't make a basket in 10 minutes.

And tonight's result in East Lansing definitely helps them. Minnesota now has the H2H advantage among the 3 bubble B1G teams, as well as the best overall wins - I would put them in first in that group (then again, I wouldn't put LSU and Lipscomb in.....).

Congrats, rampage, and thanks for keeping the bananas at bay.
I thought Ohio State played well and I am very proud of my Gophers for coming back the way they did. I am still clinging to the hope that the Gophers will make the tournament but I realize it's a longshot. I hope the Big Ten teams that make the tournament do well (well, except for the two teams I can't cheer for under any circumstances) and I hope some of them play here.
I don't hate volleyball but sometimes I think volleyball hates me.

If MN would have won against Nebraska at home after being up 2 sets to none I would have argued they deserve it but they don't have many good wins at all and would most likely be bumped in the very first round anyway so why bother! They aren't even having a Selection show party this year due to the very fact that they probably knew they weren't going to get a bid.

Gophers were 2-8 on the road this year and Maryland, in 5, was one of those wins. That's not going to cut it. They really only needed to win one of these 5: Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Northwestern or Ohio State. OR hold on to beat Nebraska at home. That really isn't THAT high of a bar to clear, even if you take the Indiana loss out of there (not sure a win there would have helped a lot).

More likely they didn't want to have one if there was a chance they wouldn't get in, even with an OSU win. They were in a lose-lose situation. Have one and risk everyone being morose or not have one and risk disenchanting loyal fans. Best to put this season behind them. Use it as motivation for better things, like the 2002 team.

What is Hugh's record at Minnesota? Was he worth it?

What is Hugh's record at Minnesota? Was he worth it? No question, a large part of this is the recruiting years between the coaching transition. The team is playing with no seniors and only 1 junior (Santana). I expect he knows what he needs to compete in the B1G next year and will do his best to right the ship.
