I still think SSS is a lock for setter and that when people say a new setter isn't going to be able to make that much difference when she still has, essentially, the same hitters as this year's setters, they are forgetting that SSS is an attacking setter, the first the Gophers will have had since the Carico year. I couldn't agree more. As evidence, see Carlini and Wisconsin's hitters...

I actually said this to her a while back, but I'll repeat it here. We all owe her our thanks for taking on the interim position and keeping the program running while Hugh was with the NT. It was something she didn't have to do. She and her staff brought in some nice players for that interim -- like Palmer, Knudsen and Santana. I know recruiting could not have been easy. Best of luck to her with her future endeavors. Spot-on; well said. I think she was wonderful for us and really kept the program in great shape during the "off" year.

While this is a 2015 thread, I'd like to bring up 2016 recruit Regan Pittman. She appears to be a 6'4 MB (maybe even 6'5) who has a higher approach touch than any recruit Minnesota has had in years at upwards of 10 1/2 feet, and she's still a junior. She has absolutely insane power on her spikes (i'd even say more powerful than Dixon was at that age). Needs some work moving laterally, but jeez, she's going to be a heckuva player for the gophers. No reason, for me at least, to think she won't start right away, even with the Tapps and Lohman.
I don't believe McLean will be an impact player for Minnesota, but will serve as a good bench option. I think she's an awesome player though. Puzzling decision by her to come to Minnesota.

And these dots may not actually connect, but I hope her departure isn't related to rumors about a particular player transferring in.

That's not actually a rumor is it? I just can't see that happening.
I'm very interested in who they end up hiring.
Congrats to PTapp, btw.

Great size and physicality, should be a very highly rated recruit. Regan has the tools for college play right now, and projects to be a force for the Gophers. Her and a senior Paige could really do some damage, especially with Sam's setting abilities.

Pittman looked fantastic when I watched her play. Hits a very heavy ball.

She has a very quick armswing, from what I saw.

I have actually thought about this/worried about this as well. I Handley is not going to transfer. She knew this whole time that Sam was coming in. She's fine with assuming a backup setter, occasional blocking sub role. I'd actually be surprised if Schau didn't transfer though. My starting lineup projection. OH1- Daly Santana OH2- Toni Abuglue MB1- Paige Tapp MB2- Molly Lohman Setter- Sam Swenson RS- Hannah Tapp Libero- Rosado or Goehner (could see both as liberos like this fall) DS- Rosado or Goehner I sure hope Wilhite can regain confidence and form to be in the mix. She has all the tools.

They're a much better team if Wilhite plays to her potential, that's for sure.

I thought the Gophers played very well in the last week of the season. Too bad it took so long to get on track and find the best line-up. Minnesota will be top 20 next fall.

Lohman's a better example. Yes, she's not an AA. But she does look like someone who is going to contribute.

I haven't seen Brittany McLean play, only know her impressive stats as a Jr at Rosemount. Why don't you think she'll be a good addition to the team and why puzzling that she's be a gopher?
