Please help spread the word: The Badger Region Volleyball Association is hosting an open tryout for the Badger Blizzards, the women's PVL (Premier Volleyball League) team that will compete now through May in USAV/PVL events. The team will also be running clinics throughout the state to help develop volleyball in the Region and encourage more young athletes to come out and support the Blizzards. The tryouts are from 10 a.m. to noon at the Adversity-Wisconsin Training Center (N113 W18750 Carnegie Drive in Germantown). The team is composed of elite athletes no longer eligible to compete at the juniors level. If you have questions or are interested, please contact Coach Christine Paciero at paciero@uwp.edu. For more information, go to www.badgervolleyball.org. ~ Brian Sharkey/Badger Region Program Director

Been thinking a lot about recent discussions on B1G and NCAA travel roster limits as well as 6-rotation players (better passers in particular), and I wanted to see a visual of the next few years. Obviously, this doesn't account for transfers, walk-ons, redshirts, injuries, open schoolies, or program leaves, but here goes: Wisconsin Volleyball 2014-2017.tiff (128.61 KB) Clearly, we're a little short on traditional DS/Liberos, but what are your thoughts on picking up additional players for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons? I know open scholarships can be a bit fuzzy, but I'm sure we'll see some late additions (why, Holman, why?). What would you like to see? Edited since I did a MAJOR disservice to Deme by spelling her name wrong... twice. Is Julia Saunders no longer coming in with this class?

Shef is now bringing on preferred walk-ons.

Sheffield tweets "Glad to announce Maddie Smith will be joining our team this Fall. She has a lot of upside & will help strengthen & add depth our DS unit." anyone have info on her? Here's the official media: www.uwbadgers.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/012715aaa.htmlSo BTN announcer Liz Tortorello-Nelson and her mom would have played together.

And per the article, Whalen was chosen as one of the 5 runner-ups. Awesome for the Badgers.

The future is bright! I wanted to tweet and congratulate, but I always feel weird tweeting a teen as someone in their late 20s. Plus I'm paranoid that Sheff will come through my screen and strangle me.

Wow. Maybe we won't suffer so much when Lauren leaves. I will miss LC mightily when the time comes, but Hilley looks to be the real deal and capable of making her own mark in the squad. And she can do everything from what I've seen of her.
