I was stunned on the Boender scholarship. We needed a strong OH, (obviously). a Walk - on, yes. Not 4yr scholarship.
Just my opinion from the peanut gallery!

If Boender left this off season, I'd be surprised. Cook is fairly high on her and thinks she'll be in the conversation next year. Larson or Keil, I could see. One of the DS's like Ethridge or Townsend, I could see. Even Albrecht if she'd rather be a six-rotation OH somewhere that has a scholarship for her. Ostrander is a senior, a captain, and has an academic scholarship, so I can't see her leaving. Townsend? She's a Regents Scholar, so college tuition isn't a financial worry for her. If I implied Townsend's academic scholarship would factor into any transfer plans, that was unintentional. I just meant it might be an option if she was looking for more playing time. Those back row freshmen all need to take a step forward next year because with Maloney coming in, one of them will be playing a lot less.

If Holman were to transfer to Nebraska and have to RS next year, is this the tentative starting roster for 2016?
S: Kelly Hunter OH: Kadie Rolfzen & Molly Haggerty MB: Lauren Stivrins & Briana Holman RS: Mikaela Foecke L: Justine Wong-Orantes or Kenzie Maloney
If so, imagine how scary good this team has the potential to be, given that Stivrins and Haggerty are expected to be top-10 recruits for 2016.
It's been since 2005-2007 when opposing teams' coaches would remark that "Nebraska is such a hard team to prepare against. Who do we focus our defense on when every player has the ability to take over a match?"
Ah, the good ol' days.

Even Foecke could be an option at middle, with the possibility of Amber or Boender at Opp. Possible '16 roster S: Hunter, Smith, Atherton OH: Kadie, Amber, Molly, Maddie, Boender RS: Foecke, Amber 2, Boender 2MB: Holman*, Stivrins, Foecke 2 Keil, Reeves, Allick, Larson L/DS: Wong-Orantes, Maloney, Albrecht, Etheridge, Townsend From a short interview on Youtube, Holman seems like a really nice, mature, and dedicated athlete. I can see her fitting in very well at Nebraska.

I think we are going to see a "NEW" version of Amber Rolfzen in 2015
...she was already stepping into a new player towards the end of the season.

Is anyone else besides myself having a hard time figuring out where Foecke fits into next season's starting lineup? She definitely won't be playing middle, so does John move her to the left of right? She looks more comfortable hitting on the right, but Nebraska has a bigger hole to fill on the left.

Where did you get that Foecke looks more comfortable hitting on the right side when in high school matches this year she hit for one rotation on the left & for 2 rotations on the right.

And, where did he get the idea that "she definitely won't be playing middle"? If that's the area of greater need (which I think it is) and Foecke is a viable solution in dealing with that need, why wouldn't she play there? Keep in mind that Christina Houghtelling played MB her first year before transitioning to OH. I view this as a similar situation.

I would imagine that the hope would be that Amber improves, gets bigger and stronger and that Hunter helps her RS attacking, that would allow you to play Foecke in the middle giving you two big upgrades in your two weakest attacking positions. I Foecke plays RS (I dont believe she will) that means Amber isnt high level enough, and you still are weak offensively in the middle. Like all seasons, all options are on the table, coaches will make the decisions they feel put the group in the best position to be successful.

Both Rolfzens are terrific athletes. But looking at last season, I think they'll be even better when they grow up.
