Amber needs to become an X factor, she has it in her! Husker's need her. Amber needs to get bigger. Strong kid, but very lean. She just doesn't hit the ball hard enough to be a top scorer. They would like to see her put on a little more mass.

Watching the Huskers this year the strength of their team seemed to be their backrow play
wong orantes and albrecht are excellent.
Huskers have to be concerned with finding 1 great setter....let alone 2
I have never seen Hunter play...but is there any concern by Husker fans... She didn't beat out Mary in a convincing enough matter to start

Hunter is an ELITE!
Amber smashed some crazy balls in the tourney, she was really pulling it together at the end there I thought. She played right where we needed her. I want her to be an All- American next year. I'm stating that right now. I'm her #1 fan!

Because I think any setter who starts for a big ten team is obviously very very good vb player. But you have to compare them relative to one another to really say "elite" You have Carlini at Wisconsin Jordyn Poulter at Illinois (#1 ranked highschool setter) Sam Swenson at Minnesota (#2 ranked Highschool setter) Taylor Tashima at Northwester (who was the 2nd setter to poulter on Under 18 USA team) I'm not saying Hunter isn't elite...I have never seen her play. But to me "elite" means 1st or 2nd..maybe top 3 setter in big ten. And if Hunter is actually Elite (top 3 setter) next year in big ten....then why did Cook sit her on the bench when he knew that Mary wasn't "elite" If I recall Mary was struggling early on in the season...where there still would have been time to make the move to Hunter. With an "elite" setter Nebraska could have made a very strong run for national championship.

With an "elite" setter Nebraska could have made a very strong run for national championship. Cook was thinking long-term when he decided to redshirt Hunter. She may have ran the offense more smoothly this year, but the passing was very inconsistent at times with all underclassmen as primary receivers and I don't know how much of a difference she could've made in certain matches. With the addition of Maloney, passing should be one of the Huskers' strengths next season. Also, when Hunter is a senior in 2017 she will be leading a team that is reloading after the Rolfzens and Wong-Orantes have graduated.

The Big isnt full of great setters, and with Micha gone, the Michigan setter, I dont see why Hunter can't be the second or third best setter in the league. As to why they didnt start her this year, that has been pretty well hashed out. Polmiller by your definition was a returning elite setter in the Big, and the coaches felt she put them in the best position to win and that it would also give Hunter another year of eligibility.

If I remember right; Kelley's team won 3 of 4 sets in the red and white game! She'll be fine! Her red-shirting gives her 3 years as setter for Nebraska! GO HUSKERS

I have no reason to doubt your overall assessment, but I don't place much stock in the outcome of the Red/White scrimmage. Keep in mind that Justine was the libero on Kelly's side in the majority of the four sets and the passing on the other side could best be described as a hot mess.

The Red-White match ended up being a pretty strong foreshadow of Nebraska's season.
Everyone in the NU camp is excited to see what Hunter can do next year.
