Are you on a first name basis with these women? Honestly, easier to spell and remember first names than last and I still couldn't get it right. Relax shhhhllllick I'm relaxed. I just think most people in sports remember athletes by their last names.

I doubt you become a 3 time gatorade player of the year for your state by not being a great attacker. If the state were Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, California, Indiana, or the like, I'd agree with you. But the overall level of competition for Gatorade, etc is significantly less in states like NJ where the level of volleyball is fairly low across the state. Although both Reed and Ariel Scott were great HS players, they spent their respective careers pounding straight down over 5'7", marginally skilled, vertically impaired blockers, which did little to aid their development for the next level. Much has been discussed of Scott's very funky arm swing coming into PSU, but when you are 6'5" with a big vertical and shoulders out to here, you'll do just fine regardless of technique at the D-I level. I think Reed actually came in a little more polished but likely still has some catching up to do (especially with injuries slowing development down) before being ready. Maybe we will see soon.

I should remember this isn't Brazil. First names are also particularly helpful when fans have players on the team with the same surname (Pierce, Rolfzen, Tapp, Haggerty).

She would not have made the top 4 club teams in WA that year.
