I'm just expressing my opinion. I know their talent. I know the PAC 12 and B1G. At end of season, FSU was far from outstanding. Playing in the ACC can create that issue.

You are absolutely absurd. They had H2H wins over Nebraska, Florida and UNC. No 8th place BIG team (Minnesota) could say that. Do you really think MSU is better than FSU with the home sweep loss against UNC? Purdue, doubtful. FSU isn't as good as Wisconsin and PSU, but they're in the same range as Illinois, Nebraska, Ohio State (actually they're probably significantly better than OSU). Same with the PAC 12, other than UW and Stanford no one stood out as better than FSU. Based on tournament performance, it's hard to put Oregon or Arizona ahead of FSU. I'd say FSU finishes between 3rd and 5th in either league. I think they were as good as those teams the first half of the season, I dont believe they were at the end. I dont believe they beat Florida and Nebraska at the end of they year, and they did in fact lose to UNC. I don't think they were as good as Florida or UNC. Nebraska s a different story, with tons of talent but very little consistency. Other than the win over UW, Nebraska wan't exactly hot or good at the end of the year. FSU played BYU much tougher than Nebraska did in Seattle. But that's beside the point, being worse than Florida, UNC nd Nebraska does not equate to finishing bottom half in the PAC or BIG.

Oh, the way you said "They would haave finished bottom half" made me think that it was a statement with actual facts or stats to back it up. I didn't realize it was just a biased opoinion against FSU and the ACC.

In the final two months. FSU played three top 25 teams. The'Noles lost to all three.

FSU was good early against some young elite teams. Great scheduling by Poole. Maybe those close to the program can describe their play late in the season (last 10 matches) and explain why FSU attracts so many transfers. Thanks.

In the last 10 matches, FSU went 7-3 (I'm including the NCAA tourney in the last 10; if you don't, they went 8-2).
The beat Virginia at home 3-1, BC, Syracuse, Miami, and Clemson at home, all 3-0, and lost to Duke and UNC on the road 3-1. They also beat Alabama and Jacksonville 3-0 at home in the tourney before losing 3-1 to final four participant BYU on a neutral, west coast site.
I'm a little confused as to why this performance requires explanation. The conference schedule is what it is; they went on the road and lost to the two other very strong teams in the conference in competitive matches. They were a fairly young team this year, with a setter and libero their only seniors. They, like so many teams, play about as well as they pass, and apart from Mosher I don't know that any of the other primary passers are elite at serve receive (though none is bad). When FSU played great, their defense was spectacular. When they didn't, it wasn't. Some of the credit here has to go to their opponents, imo.
As for why they attract "so many" transfers, what's to wonder? They are a very high quality, successful program in a warm part of the country in a power 5 conference with fantastic athletic programs that had some unexpected transfers out of the program last year (Carmona, Mikesky). Truly, it's a puzzler why players would want to transfer there. Add to that a friendly, very well-liked coach with a recent history of success in the NCAAT, and you've identified a mystery for the ages.

I asked for input on FSU's late season play since it was questioned in this thread. Thanks for providing such. It seems as if they beat all teams with over 50 RPI and lost to those under that number. I asked the question on transfers since this seems to be more popular at FSU than anywhere else. Quite frankly your answer was adequate but not anything unique. There are 25 programs or more that offer as much as FSU, in my opinion. Still curious as to why FSU relies so heavily on transfers.

Historically, they don't. This was an unusual year. That was the point of my "adequate" response.
In 2013, they had no transfers in (all info from Rich Kern's site). In 2012, they had one (I'm not counting Taylor Simpson, who was in her School for A Month stage at that point - very happy for her that she had a great season at Colorado). In 2011, they had one. In 2010, they had two JUCO transfers. In 2009, they had zero.
I don't think this is evidence of heavy reliance on transfers. Your mileage may, of course, vary.

I think the issue is that for the 2014 class, they had 2 starters graduate, and didn't have any recruits signed up to replace them (hence 4 total transfers after Carmona/Mikesky). Then, they had 2 seniors graduating this year and only brought in one to replace them (hence announcing Ambrose as part of the signing class). It's just strange that they're not recruiting out of high school. Especially for the 2014 class - the timeline for that recruiting class was right after their Final Four run. That they came up empty, and subsequently, makes you think it really is the strategy to go for transfers. They've got 7 seniors graduating next Fall ( 5 looks like on scholarship), and RichKern shows them with only 1 2016 commit - a libero. That class probably isn't finished yet, but most Top 25 schools have their 2016 classes at least mostly firmed up by now.

Well, they thought they were getting Taylor Simpson (OH) for 3 years in 2012, and that was a bust. Not sure who to hold responsible for that. They signed Burrington and Green at MB (though Green is now a RS), the Dadowskis (both DS), Medic (a JUCO OH), and Mikesky (OH) that year. So, your two of your 3 OH recruits go poof, and the other was a JUCO.
In 2013 they didn't get any OH's, which was certainly a miss, but probably not overly surprising since they had signed 3 the year before. They brought in Luke and Carmona, who is gone. It may, indeed, have been a strategy for this single year if they could not find HS kids they wanted.
This is something of an aberration at FSU, though, imo. There is not a great reliance on transfers in this program, at least since Chris has been there.
ETA: I also wonder what impact losing Holly, Gokhan, and now Ryan in fairly close succession has had on the stability of recruiting. No inside info, but it probably can't help.

In the final two months. FSU played three top 25 teams. The'Noles lost to all three. Losing to Duke at Duke is one loss that raises a question. But @ UNC and losing @ Seattle to BYU in 4 when FSU had set points in hand to go to 5 are not bad losses. Those teams were final 8. FSU was a very good team.

FSU started the season strong with wins including Florida,UNC and Nebraska but cooled off later in November with losses to Duke and UNC. FSU had a great season and seemed to get overlooked in the Final AVCA coaches Poll. FSU should be strong in 2015 and hopefully get a chance to meet Nebraska in the playoffs.
