Having so many hotels walking distance to the convention and the arena was a major plus.
I won't miss OKC, however.

Why not in sunny warm Phoenix Arizona? But then again everyone else is here so it maybe expensive to find a room. I would go to it. Love the sunshine

Love the sunshine I have been there several times for work in December, and I never thought it was all that amazing. Phoenix just doesn't seem like a city to me. More like the world's biggest suburb.

cheap, location, cheap, location, cheap, location, cheap, location....oh did I mention, cheap and location? Also, Omaha will also sell out, assuming the team makes the final four, which they are going on year 7 of NOT doing it, so, well, yeah. It's kind of like why is Iowa State and Louisville hosting a regional this year, and next year Northern Iowa and Kentucky (who just hosted last year) hosting a regional, both are essentially suburbs of each other...cheap and location. and since we are talking about Kentucky...a regional or final four has been in the state of Kentucky for 5 STRAIGHT YEARS, vomit. Why wouldn't they host a regional in Columbus next year instead of Kentucky to kinda get a feel or prep for the championship the following year? Columbus is also entering to host ncaa events. Louisville is much nicer than OKC

Louisville is much nicer than OKC I agree. As a fan who didn't do the convention stuff and did the touristy things, I definitely had a better time in Louisville than OKC.

Do people really care where it is?
We have this thread every year.
What I mean is, other than whether it is driving distance or not, aren't those who want to go to the final four going to fly wherever it is with the primary event being volleyball?
It is still a small sport and putting it somewhere warm isn't going to make more people go, I do not think. How much of the attendance is from people driving inside 300 miles plus the teams in attendance? I do not think that formula would change too much if it was some where "nice." Maybe I am wrong.

Yes I have to agree. But if you get away from the city its nice. I just love the warm weather.

They should probably just have Nebraska fans vote on where they would like to have it since they always have the most fans even if the Huskers isn't there.

Amenities? What kinda amenities do a group of coaches who will spend 12 hours a day going from session to session need? An IHOP or Denny's, an Applebee's or Chili's, and a hotel room. Done.

There's reason why Oklahoma's license plates say Oklahoma is OK. Not great. Not even good. Just OK.

There's reason why Oklahoma's license plates say Oklahoma is OK. Not great. Not even good. Just OK. There used to be a place in San Jose called O.K. Fast Chinese Food. Needless to say, I never ate there. Was just too darned afraid. And if Phoenix is the world's largest suburb, I guess San Jose gets to be the world's 2nd largest suburb.

Done. =) More than two decent restaurants within walking distance, somewhere to buy coffee or snacks or other drinks in the convention center. The two to three restaurants were sorely unprepared for the crowds. I wouldn't have minded an IHOP or Chili's or Denny's. Didn't see one anywhere near the convention center.
