Kaylin Korte is from northern Illinois. Morris, where she is from, is probably just outside what would be considered as the suburbs. Marijke Van Dyke is from Munster, which is just on the other side of state line in Indiana and functionally is a suburb of Chicago.
But to your main point, it is interesting that Hambly and the staff have had trouble keeping the state's most talented kids home. We've had some success with SPBV/SPRI but more often than not, that club and their kids have opted to go out of state. Big picture, I think we're recruiting really well, just need to keep plugging away, both in state and out of state. The staff's success in Indiana and Ohio has been fantastic.

I did hear that Kaylin Korte is gonna be ranked pretty high next year. That's always good to hear. I know she plays backrow, so maybe she can replace Birks? I'm thinking Illini will need to transfer in a OH that has experience and has leadership. Ranked high in Prep VB's Senior Aces? I saw something about her being ranked Top 7 in the country, which, though great if true, is much higher than anticipated. She must be killing it out there this year.

I watched the online feed of Korte's team playing Milwaukee Sting. Korte does play all the way around for her 1st Alliance team but was consistently getting blocked on the outside by Sting. 1st alliance lost to Sting in two 25-17, 25-11. I am not sure she is big enough to compete in the Big 10 but I hope so.

But hoping that was just a bad game for her. I know she is a little small to be an OH in the B1G but look at Kelly Bates. If she has the athleticism she can be an OH, I think because of her height she just needs to be smart. Maybe one more year in club and HS can turn her into a smarter hitter. How was her backrow?

Isn't she a junior, class of 2016? Why would she be on the senior Aces? I didn't think that Tawa ranked juniors, but maybe he does and I never noticed.

Pretty sure that's in reference to being on the JVA All-National Team for 17s. That's not going to align closely with Senior Aces at all.

In the Class of 2016, she isn't among the 50 top rated athletes, nor in the next group of 35 so her Twitter account must be referencing some other ranking.

Yes, I was aware of the top 50 but they are not ranked 1 to 50. So, was wondering about the #7 ranking.

The #7 twitter statement was something she retweeted from "Smack High Illinois". Not sure if you can base anything on that.

Watched some videos of quake she's good she hits off the block very well. Not a big dominant hitter almost a little like Ellen Chapman from Wisconsin. I know Quade also plays a level up for a good club team in Munciana with Beth Prince. IMO I think Illinois kinda wasted their scholarship for Kaylin Korte, I'm not sure she can be an OH and that's what Illinois really needs after birks leaves.
