I can't wait till Poulter comes to Illinois. I think she will change the dynamics of this team. Illinois didn't use their middles as much for the past few years and now I think Poulter will use them more than ever. Which makes the team more balanced. I also think Poulter will speed up the offense something I though Illinois really needed to do in order to be at the next level.

When Birks graduates I really hope Illini will get an OH transfer.

I just watched parts of the Under Armour All American game which is posted in that thread on VT. At 12:05 Jordyn Poulter jump set a slide from about zone 2 or 3, moving away from the right pin, quick and accurate to the middle who was all the way over to the right pin. I don't recall any set like that from an Illinois setter last year, or, for that matter, any other college setter. I believe that she and the middle played together on the national team, so it wasn't something that was done on two or three days practice. Any other setter would have tossed up a high set to the left side. Based on that one set, I now understand why people are so excited and expect her to start right away. I was more impressed with Bastianelli. She's going to be a monster in the Big 10. I am optimistic about Bastianelli but not right away. She is not strong enough to be an impact MB in the B1G her Freshman year. Great heart, attitude and ability.

She is not too physical compared to FOECKE, but I think Alison did out perform her and Tianna Williams in the Under Armour match. Which I know we should not take too seriously, but she did play pretty well. I think Alison will be more of an impact her sophmore year, but I do think she will be a starter. With Poulter setting her I think she's gonna do pretty well. I think the main concern with her is her blocking, she is a little slow laterally.

Can anyone tell me when the incoming freshmen will be on campus? I cannot wait for the season to start. I think Beth and Alison are coming and coming off campus. I saw that Alison was tagged in a picture at camp. Beth and Alison have already taken their volleyball pictures. Jordyn I think should be coming to campus soon.

Interesting pick by the Illini "72 kills, while hitting .221, and totaled 139 blocks (107 solo)." I know she was only a sophmore but 72 kills is not a lot and hitting ay .221 is not so good as well. Blocks looks good, but I'm a little concerned how effective she'll be in the next two years she has a lot to learn before coming to Illinois. I wonder is Illinois is just not getting those highly recruited players anymore. They didnt get Molly Hagerety or Alexis Hart. Little worried I'm not sure if any of the 2016 or 2017 are top 20 recruits.

So, I would trust the coach to assess potential correctly.

Just a little scary how young the Illini team will be after Birks graduates. Strizak is going to have to step up these next two years, I hope she can turn into a 6 rotation player, that would be ideal so she could start getting the hang of it. I would not have put Birks in the backrow when she was a R Freshman, but now look she can play backrow defense and hit from the backrow. I think they need to give Strizak a change to play backrow. Once Strizak, Stadick, Naya, and that class leaves the team looks very young. I'm thinking Hambly would likely get a transfer, because Brandi is the only one in her class.
