Washington starts their Winter Term on the 5th so unless Vansant graduated in December, she's probably finishing up school. Correct. With her (and a couple others), there were some academic issues to work around. And yes, I think I could probably put up a stream. It will just be the fixed back-angle scout cam, but if people are interested, I could get it up on YouTube like I had for the Hawaii match when the USA stream was not available. ?

The link states Glass has a minor injury. Does that mean Hancock sees action right away? Also Fawcett had 83 swings in a three set match in Korea?!

Not sure "how she was allowed to act the way she did growing up" means. Have seen her as a mature young woman coaching up high school players at Serra High in Gardena and have been greatly impressed. The measure of one's contributions and talent isn't defined by a slice of life. Look at the whole pizza. Let the life play out and you will typically see valleys and peaks for most of us. Stay tuned on Falyn. Long way to go. If you didn't see or hear about her during her club and high school days, then you wouldn't know about what I'm talking about. I witnessed her literally shut her club coach up (Obradovich) in the middle of one of her games during club, and there's a lot more that she's done. She's a great talent and I'm not measuring her by any means, especially by a "slice of life." I'm glad to hear that she's matured. Having a baby does wonders to people. Hope to see her play on Friday as well as everyone else. Should be exciting! Yes but you have to put that season in context. I believe the year Obradovich coached Falyn was the only year he was a head coach for club volleyball. Steve managed to put together a collection of SoCal superstars for his team. He was going to prove to the volleyball community what an incredible coach he was. Well, one tournament early in the season his team lost all its matches and dropped down to Division 2. Team dissension quickly progressed to full scale rebellion. Some of the players quit. The team was in disarray by season's end. Obradovich lost control of the team. Falyn wasn't the only player expressing displeasure during matches.

Amen. It's all about a setter's location and brains. It's about the location of the setter's brains.

couple things that i noticed right way... obviously the speed of the sets are throwing players off... it'll be fun to see what Madi Bugg can do... for a player who has only had ONE serving attempt in her career at Stanford... i think Inky has a great dancing serve... JDunning, let the girl serve Karsta impressed me she seemed to be the most comfortable hitter... Macy Gardner had some really great swings and was really aggressive... Falyn still doesn't impress me... she only impressed me when she was at Mira Costa. Inky getting some Beasty blocks Serve Receive I expected to be aweful... it's a different ball and it's hard to pass... and i want to see burgess in this system!!!!

So Match Two, no Alhassan, no Simpson.
Red Team: Dannemiller (S), Fonoimoana (OH), Frantti (OH), Washington (MB), Ajanuku (MB), Lowe (OPP), Robinson (L)
Blue Team: Bugg (S), Gardner (OH), Walch (OH), Brown (MB), Hamson (OPP), Banwarth and Moster (L)
They changed up the format. I think they were supposed to play regular scoring (best of 5, sets to 25), but then Inky picked up an injury early in the first few points and that probably impacted their decision to play best of 3. There was only one player playing MB on each side - Washington and Brown. So those two would always stay in the front row. (BTW, Inky's injury seemed to be minor, probably just an ankle or tweaking the knee, but she sat the rest of the match).
The match was pretty much about serve and pass. Game One, Red Team missed a million serves and Blue Team was ripping their serves. Falyn and Frantti got the lion's share and both struggled. Hamson dominated that game. I think when she got higher sets, she was able to put the ball away. On the faster sets, she just tipped or smartly wiped the ball off the block.
In Games Two and Three was a reversal. Red Team won those handily. Gardner really struggled on receive. Lowe started dominating on hitting and blocking. Hamson didn't seem to get set for a while and then towards the end of the match, she struggled (again, I think it was the tempo).
None of the OHs were able to pass or terminate consistently.
I think Dannemiller looked like the more consistent setter. Bugg has some sweet sets but other times had location problems or would mangle a few sets. Her back sets and middle sets seem a lot smoother than the ones to the outside.
