Looks like Big schedule will be exact same as last year, but flipped. Teams will play same teams, the same number of times. Example Nebraska will open up at PSU, and host them last weekend. Wisconsin will play Nebraska and PSU once, but flip home and away (UW at PSU). Purdue schedule started out last year, favorable, ended really tough, that will be opposite this year. So the solution to the huge problem everybody hates is to..... continue to do what everybody hates, just backwards. This is the trouble with decision-making by consensus.

So completely flipped (based on your Purdue comment)? Example, WI will open AT Purdue and finish AT Penn State? I don't think there is a good way to "fix" the schedule, which is why everyone probably threw up their hands. We've beaten to death the downsides to other alternative. Although they could have "fixed" the travel, by playing back to back or Friday/Sunday when two teams to play are only less than 150 miles apart (Purdue/In, etc), rather than making two out

So the silver platter holding the Big Ten Championship trophy will simply stay in Madison? It really doesn't take that much time and effort for someone at a conference office to put together a schedule that makes the season balanced and as equitable as possible.

Yeah that's kind of garbage. Badgers get psu and Nebraska only once for a second straight year.

Funny, I was going to post something similar. It's boof, and like many fans, is a one-hit wonder (I'll go with 8675309/Jenny). His one-hit is PSU. Mine is Wisconsin. So just as I might start a thread on the Big Ten (which I wouldn't, because I acknowledge I am a one hit wonder), one would expect it to be Wisconsin-centric; in this case, since boof started the thread, it's made it PSU-centric. Now that that's over: What are the expectations for a team like Iowa? They had a few more wins, but they were over bottom feeders (and an inconsistent Purdue). I see Purdue as a team that should improve next year and overcome its inconsistencies and they are bringing a great class and a great setter. I will be curious whether SSS adds some stability to the Gophers. They had a down year in the first time I can remember; I don't expect that to last. If you are taking "Jenny" (personal favorite) what should we go with for boof?
1. Dexys Midnight Runners - Come on Eilene 2. Lipps, Inc. - Funkytown (very fitting) 3. Toni Basil - Mickey 4. Nena - 99 Red Ballons
I'd go with spose( I'm awsome )

Spose is the artist. I'm awsome is the song.

I understand the premise of a round-robin schedule, but if all of the teams don't have the same schedules and face the same competition (inclusive of home and away matches), a broken round-robin seems like the last kind of schedule format that should be used to declare a "winner" or "champion."

It would have been better to just have taken the football divisions and you play everyone twice in division and play everyone once in the other division and the 20th match of the season is 1st vs 1st, 2nd vs 2nd, etc of the two divisions. That would make everyone's RPI better let bubble teams duke it out and bottom feeders can get another win.

Agreed, and I think there are programs that are ok with that, which is a problem.

The extra Wednesday matches are because of the increase in TV coverage combined with the rule that if your travel partner is playing on Wednesday, you also play on Wednesday. We won't get the schedule for sure until the network has had its say. But it looks like we at least know the week by week, for the most part.
