i believe Cole Pender has two golds. One last year and he was on the now Balboa 17s team when they were 14s and won a gold.
Patrick Paragas came in at the end of the semi finals of the OC Championships between CdM vs San Clemente and unleashed beastly serves. If he doesn't get too tired from setting and can serve like that for his 15s team, he will be a force.
Too early too say who will end up being the top players in a year or two. Some guys have a ton more experience than others at this point. Some guys will catch up and pass guys and some will grow and become more effective players.

These are sophomores? I wonder where Pender will go to college.

I feel bad for all the great players and not so great club teams, there was a clash of the titans during BJNQ in Anaheim between two lesser teams but the two opposing outside hitters were much better than any other outsides i have seen yet. I think it was Sport Performance (chicago) vs. VCVC 16 Alii but the Outside on both teams were freshman

buddy scott is the real deal.
almost like micah christenson but much more physical as a younger player.
if he hits 6'6" plus, he will be in the national pipeline for sure at both OH and setter

Patrick Paragas from CdM and the libero for HBC 15 Grant Guinasso playing for HB got some playing time last night in the finals of the OC Championships last night.
There is a big gap between the top jr and srs in the front row from the top freshmen. Some or most may make that transition. Others who are top players in 15s will be solid high school players but not be the top recruits in a couple years.

'18's are frosh this year, if I am counting correctly. Some will just keep on improving. Some will top out as jrs/srs.
4 years from now we'll have to come back and look at this list.

Thanks for posting about the class of 2018, my son has played with, or against most of the boys on the list. The only names unfamiliar are the 949 kids and the hbc setter. Do you know if they've attended HP?

Worked the OC Championships and Paragas was a serving sub for CdM since Ctvrtlik handled the setting duties. It's almost unfair how talented HB is. Any time CdM threatened DeFalco would come flying out of the pins or the backrow to get points. Unsung hitter for HB was Ben Vaught. Ryan Moss for CdM is a big hitter and passed pretty good for the Sea Kings. That team can threaten once their hoops players back from CIF get back into the groove.

Don't forget about the back row defense. From the SoCal qualifier, two standouts I saw at libero (freshman class):
Grant Guinasso Team: The HBC 15 Black High School: Huntington Beach
Zachary Brill Team: MB SURF NIKE 15's High School: Palos Verdes Peninsula
These two have supposedly played club and probably some beach for a number of years. Both these kids have incredible passing skills. Watched both of them and they have a knack on serve/receive to get the offense clicking by putting the pass right to the setter. They are also very good setters. Most importantly their court awareness allows them to be in position to get a touch on the ball which allows more opportunities for their offense to score.
I also saw a little bit of the Palisades 15 libero and thought he was solid.

Timmy Baldwin is to play up on Spectrum 16s for Nationals, played for a below average club team before (VCVC 16s)

As mentioned before, Ethan Bell is probably the top recruit out of the midwest region. Others are: Ian Piet Stevie Bresser Conor Ward Kyle Cohan Jack McGrail Ian Piet is listed on Ultimate 16s - would he be class of 2017 then? Or is he a freshman playing up a year? Bresser & Ward are on MVC and Bell, Cohan & McGrail on STL HP. Those are definitely the two best 15s teams in the Midwest.

I'm pretty sure Piet is in the class of 2018 because he played 14's last year.
For 15's, the Midwest rankings are: 1) Ultimate B15 Gold 2) MVC B15-KYLE 3) HPSTL B15 Royal 4) Southport 15s 5) Adversity 15 Purple 6) Milw Sting 15 Boys
MVC did win the Chicago qualifier, but they lost to Ultimate in the St. Louis qualifier. For Nationals seedings, they go by the most recent qualifier so that would be the St. Louis one.

I watched him play against El Segundo and he is so raw, but I feel like he will be one of the better kids in the class of 2018.
