Here is the dream team for the 15s at the PNQ. (future class for 2018) OH - Emilee Rohrer T-Street Riley Zuhn NORCO MB - Hannah Boyd Madfrog Blue Kava Durr PSUBA OP - Michelle Shaffer Sunshine Westside S - Sara Fuse Vision L - Rose Holscher Absolute I haven't seen these ladies play but those who did select these players for the age 15 dream team. Why are you so infatuated with freshman recruits? Half the girls you listed may not even be top players in 2018 their senior year because so many other girls will keep developing. Let the coaches worry about recruiting.

I'm just trying to get a basic idea of who the better players are. I wish there was a site where players could indicate what schools have offered them a scholarship.

And further dwell into these girls lives? We already have obsessed volleyball fans stalking girls twitters, tweeting them to come to their respective schools, emailing them. These girls have just started Highschool. Let them live their lives.

Time out! I don't stalk girls, use twitter, or email them. I don't have access to scouting services like many coaches do. In college football and basketball the number of scholarship offers is very public information and I don't hear anyone complaining. So why is volleyball so different?

I said opening something like that up will just lead to more intrusions into these girls lives. They're freshman. Let them live. Who offers them scholarships is their business to divulge if they chose to do so. Not a sites, or anyones elses. I know you mean no harm, but let these girls live out their HS careers.

I will let this go with one parting thought. It seems to me these girls might like to know what other players are being recruited by certain schools. It must come as a bit of a shock to find out later that their university loaded up on their particular position knowing that some of the girls will later become convinced that they will get little playing time and have to transfer out to get PT.

it is not unreasonable to be thinking about the 2018 class...the coaches of the power programs all have the 2018 kids 'on the boards'...PSU, Texas, Nebraska, Florida, Washington, et al, all recruiting 9th graders...my kids (who played D1 volleyball, one considered an elite player) were told by their clubs to keep their visits (and offers) to themselves until they were ready to commit...think that is good advice on many levels
An entire different discussion on if and when a kid should commit when offered early...

It is a very small world, kids talk, club coaches talk, and you have social media. Not to mention kids flat out ask who else they are recruiting, and if they aren't they arent very smart. Why do people think that when kids are being recruited those schools shouldnt continue to recruit better kids, or more kids for competition? This isnt church league. You are a big PSU fan, and you rightly believe Russ is an ethical coach. Do you believe for one second that he wouldnt have recruited and signed kids to play over Hodge, Fawcette, Harmotto, if he could? By the way, welcome back.

If it comes as a shock to a player that their school is loading up on talent in their position or any other, those people are totally clueless. Totally clueless. You seem to find this practice unusual or unethical, it is the absolute nature of the business. You clearly don't come from a competitive athletic background or understand the nature of competitive collegiate athletics.

I am getting quite an education from you on this matter. I will have to lower my esteem of coaches. Apparently all the other coaches agree with you. By the way, thanks for welcoming me back and I hope to behave better from now on.

By the way, thanks for welcoming me back and I hope to behave better from now on. I think you have missed the point completely. Nothing about what coaches are doing should make you lower your esteem of them. They are doing their jobs, and exactly what they should be doing. Is Apple not going to try and hire top talent even though they already have top talent? It is their responsibility, and there is not one ounce of unfairness to the players in the program or being recruited into the program. If I had a player or parent call me up and say "we just found out that the school I committed to has offered another player in my position I would say, "get used to it, and start competing, nothing is ever guaranteed" Heck, I would tell that to a 15 year old kid in our club when new great players join. Anything short of that is giving kids a lesson in how the world DOESN"T work, which is a disservice. What do you think the freshman at Stanford are thinking right now after the class they just landed? I will give you a hint, the same thing the jr class was thinking when the freshman class committed. It's sad we live in a world where any kid, parent or fan is outraged by having to compete for what they want, or they feel entitled to something just because they are there. Lastly, great players and teammates arent threatened by talent, they know it makes the team and them better. While kids have tons of reasons for transferring, the #1 is they don't want to have to compete, they want a program that ensures they will play.

That is why it is so important for players to choose a school that they would still want to go to regardless of volleyball.
Most players are competitive and want to compete, but their definition of "compete" is narrow and only includes competing against another team and playing, not having to compete on their own team for playing.
