UCI just couldn't pass tonight, and Loyola was diming theirs. It's really that simple.

Irvine played their normal level in the first set. Loyola just straight outplayed them and showed they were definitely the better team. Irvine then selfdestructed into some of the worst volleyball I have seen them play this year and Loyola remained consistent. Having watched 20 mpsf matches this year, Loyola would have been at the top of the mpsf if this is their normal level of play. Uci couldn't handle hitting high balls against a big block nor could they handle the bic since it wasn't a large part of mpsf play this year. Impressed with Loyolas young giants.

Unfortunate to see several 3rd ball "no spikes", almost free balls in game 3. Seemed like UCI kind of gave up on TV.

well at least Pfeiffer played Loyola tough enough to get them warmed up for the finals. That there was just a walk through

That was more boring and lopsided than the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight.
Pacquiao had a torn rotator cuff, what was UCI's excuse?
Maybe the lack of crowd and lack of noise lulled UCI to sleep.
The terrible quality of the live stream almost lulled me to sleep.

Worst passing I have ever seen. Agreed. Both Irvine and Loyola didn't pass all that well but Irvine in particular passed horribly. I couldn't tell from the video feed if Loyola was serving that tough or if Irvine just choked that badly tonight. Loyola IMO is just a more complete team than Irvine. Loyola has better players at every position except for Brinkley at L and La Cavera at OPP. And although according to early stats Ricky Gevis only hit .300, I thought he played a great game at oppo for Loyola. That right side has been the missing piece all year for the Ramblers and he has stepped up huge for them these last few weeks. My pick is Loyola over Lewis in 4 in the championship.

I think, the last time a California school did not make the Finals was back in 2003, when Lewis won in 5 over BYU....which was later vacated by the NCAA.

Do you people ('UCI was just off' 'eh it was just passing'), realize how well LU played this match?
UCI came out pretty well and LU beat them early and continued to beat them till they fell apart. Loyola just passed, blocked, dug, hit in-system and out of system (freshmen) and served at a high level. You don't see teams firing from all positions like this very often.
Give credit where it is do. LU beat UCI by a narrow margins early, but executed all phases well enough that it was convincing even before the UCI implosion.
Same crap we heard when they wiped the floor with Stanford. Give credit.

If it ends up being Loyola and Lewis and the final, instead of the 300 people showing up at Stanford, they could host this game in Chicago United Center and filled the place!

Even if they passed better, and limited their amateur mistakes, Loyola would in all likelihood have still won the match. They were the better team. In watching the Penn St vs. Lewis match thus far, they seem to be playing at the level I am used to seeing UCI and Pepperdine play at this year. If Loyola remains consistent this tournament, they should repeat.
