One other thing about this televised match which caught my attention and which I was absolutely DELIGHTED to see was then use of super slow motion replay to overturn calls and get it right, especially given the tempo/speed of the game. I hope that quickly matriculates down to USA college VB.

Amazing to think that Karsta Lowe was only a WALK-ON at UCLA her first season(s)? and now she is MVP of the World Grand Prix! I know that Mike Sealy gets a lot of heat on this board, but kudos to him and his staff for seeing the diamond in the rough and helping develop her into the player she is. Also great to see Kreklow get some recognition! Well deserved! What's more amazing to me is how many top programs missed on a big 6'4 lefty. (I know nothing about her recruiting status out of high school. Perhaps she had offers and turned them down for UCLA.)

I can't imagine many schools can afford the number and quality of cameras and camera operators to come close to replicating the FIVB Replay product.

Awards: 1st OH: Natalia Pereira 1st MB: Juciely These Brazilian players must be feeling some extra pressure of wanting to represent their country in their own soil. Couldn't be a better one. Juicely definitely made a case in this Grand Prix over Adenizia in the Pan-Am Games. And since I am not a fan of the latter, I am pinning my hopes on Juicely as the 3rd MB behing Fabiana and Thaisa. I would say that Adenizia might be the 5th best MB on Brazil. Carol, IMHO, is even better and has more potential. After Garay and Jacque, it would be a dogfight for the 3rd and possibly 4th OH spot. I would think Natalia would be a logical choice since she can play on both OH and Opp. Gabi, meanwhile, seems like too short as a starting OH. She was blocked out on the court vs Italy. But I love her armswing though. Is Tandara still the back up opposite of Sheilla? I havent seen much of her this Grand Prix so I don't have any idea whether she or Monique has the inside track to Rio.

I know often times the MVP award goes to the player on the Gold Medal team, but I think Goncharova should've won the MVP award and Karsta the best Opp. 124 vs 79 points. In the 2012 Olympics, Kim from South Korea won the MVP while her team placed 4th.

The staff loves Murphy.... Short of injuries- this Grand Prix squad is the the roster rio. One middle and likely the second liberal will be cut. Love is fleeting. Yep. Murphy is done.
