GoPOLY!!!...so why does that puzzle you?! ...doesn't seem odd to me at all - the team hasn't exactly lit it up the last 3 years, Cal Poly is not a tall team, they haven't shown to have any stand-out talent, and on top of that more coaching changes occured on the program maybe you can point out otherwise ??

Last year they 4-12 in conference. Even though most of the team is coming back but it's hard to speculate how much better they would have gotten over a spring especially with 2 coaches gone. Maybe their incoming freshmen will have an immediate impact? It'll be a tough year for them I think.

Your point is well taken. I am basing my claim on, what I hope will be, a giant improvement curve of last season's freshmen class. The 4-5 sophomores-to-be that had the majority of PT at the end of the year. GoPOLY!!!

this thread has gone quiet. what's going on at other big west teams' two-a-days?
i was hoping the avca poll would have 2 big west teams in the top 25 to start -- hawaii and lbsu. but lbsu was outside the top 25. they have a chance to get back in again tho, as they play #25 duke in their opening weekend.

LBSU should be able to prove themselves the first weekend with Alabama and Duke. They could possibly be ranked after a couple of solid weeks in preseason.

Long Beach State has a chance to pick-up some good wins starting with Duke on August 29th.

Has anybody looked at UCIs schedule?!?!?!?!? UCI hosts Hawaii and UCSB on a Tuesday. I know kinda weird! Conference matches are usually played on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

The only player I see missing from the roster is Danetta Boykin. That's a bummer considering she was the third best hitter on the team. Now CSUN loses four of the top five kill leaders from last season.

Now CSUN loses four of the top five kill leaders from last season. Boykin didn't play the last two matches of 2014 - one of those was a win - Northridge only has one win remaining after the forfeits. Boykin would be a big loss if she wan't able to play this year - Storke has had the program on the upswing, this is unfortunate.

Boykin is a HUGE loss for CSUN. I remember watching her performance--on PrimeTicket--against Hawaii. When she is on, she is virtually unstoppable. The forfeiting of 9 matches is devastating to a program that was on the rise. It seems like the athletic program at CSUN is a little out of control with WVB joining MBB as programs being scrutinized by the NCAA.

CSUN will struggle to reach double-digit wins. They scheduled way too tough OOC. That's gonna be a huge RPI drain for the Big West to have one of the "top" teams falter like that (plus, the PAC teams who scheduled them probably aren't happy either)
