Hawai'i will run the tables in the Big West this season, the POY will be Tai Manu-Olevao. You heard it here first. I have to respectfully disagree. If UH relies on Olevao to be the first option, they won't be as successful as they hope. If Magill and Mitchem are options 1 and 2, UH will be more likely to finish undefeated in conference. I think those two will have better chances of getting POY. I am leaning more towards Mitchem unless Higgins's sets to the middles improve. Maglio will surprise everybody. I agree with your disagreement. lol I think Tai will be that needed boost but I don't believe she will be option #1. It will be Mitchem or Taylor before Tai becomes that top option. But that just goes to show.....Hawaii has the opportunity to have 4 offensive options this season in ( Taylor, Magill, Mitchem, Manu-Olevau). That is a great thing! Mitchem will Start.....I don't know what position but she will start. I do have my reservations on Higgins.....they need her to play up for Hawaii to get to the sweet16 at least. I'm very hopeful for her though.

Keep in mind Ashley Murray (LBSU) who won the Freshman POY was playing on a team with mostly upper seniors and juniors,...Taylor Nelson (CAL POLY) was not.
As a matter of fact,...five of the six starters for CAL POLY were freshmen.

Ashley Murray won Freshman POY because she was, hands down, the best freshman player in the Big West Conference in 2014. Whom she played with--"mostly upper seniors and juniors"--had nothing to do with why the 9 coaches of the BWC voted her FOY. Stop making excuses for your overrated class of freshmen at Cow Poly.

I have to agree with the statement that Murray was the best freshman in the Big West this past year. She was a key part of why Long Beach did well this year. Just because she wasn't playing with pretty much only freshman, doesn't mean that she isn't an outstanding player.

I would think you'd be more concerned with how the Cal Poly team will perform this year this will be Crosson's FOURTH year, and he's got 13 conference wins TOTAL. He wasn't able to keep key players from transferring. Poly just lost 2 coaches (& recruiters), Poly (& Crosson) lucked out as it is that Nelson was the daughter of a Cal Poly great. The frosh class had some promise, so it's time for the Poly program to actually go somewhere.

Ok this is where I disagree jake, while I still disagree about hudson, Murray is and will always will be (Barring serious injury) an AMAZING talent, and while I wanted Greeley to win, I had no gripes about ashley winning FOY.

Never implied Murray was not a good player nor not deserving of the award,..ONLY Nelson had to play with teammates (4) with no D1 experience. Let's just see what 2015 brings between the two ladies. Both will be sophomores and Nelson's CAL POLY teammates will have one year's experience under their belts.

It's pronounced CAL POLY or CAL POLY, SLO,...now your ignorance is showing. Hey Jake the Cal Poly women's tennis coach Damon Coupe was recently forced to resign after 4 years. In Coupe's 1st 3 years he had only 21 wins total. Well in Crosson's 1st 3 years he had only 25 wins total. Crosson better start winning more in his 4th year unless he wants to end up gone like Coupe. Just saying!

I think Crosson's got more leeway than Coupe - they inherited two different situations & two different demeanors I give Crosson two - possibly three more years - meaning he needs IMO to make some noise by this class's junior year. Finishing 7th again next year won't be good - but it's also gonna be hard for Poly to move up, every team above them is solid - he still hasn't really had an 'impact' recruit.

If rumors are true and Jane Croson is going to Riverside, then Riverside could be a little better. Here are my 2015 Big West Women's Volleyball Standings predictions: 1. Hawaii 2. UC Davis 3. CSU Long Beach 4. UCSB 5. CSU Northridge 6. UC Irvine 7. Cal Poly SLO 8. UC Riverside 9. CSU Fullerton This to me seems accurate too. Croson can't play for Riverside; she's too old. Love the avatar also!

Think your assessment is right on. Crosson is going into his fourth year at CAL POLY with a very young team. Hopefully, what you hear about student-athlete improvement between the 1st and 2nd years in college is true. GoPOLY!!!

She has only played 3 years of college volleyball so she would still be able to play one more because she is still within the 5 year window?

I like Sherridan A. and Sara Watanabe being OH#1 for the Beach this next season. They'd be very complimentary. OR Is it that only local girls, who remain on the rock, coached by Shoji, are able to progress into defensive dandy's? There are plenty of other coaches out there (B.G. certainly one of them) who can coach at the elite level, more than Hawaiians?. YET The record sorta speaks for itself, tho: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_Rainbow_Wahine_volleyball--- Croson left UA in 2013-14; she did NOT play the Sand VB season. Dropping out means she'd be shy Sr. Year credits for a fifth year.

Manu-Olevao will not be Hawaii's primary option the way Hartong, Danielson, etc., was for the Wahine but she won't have to be. That is one of the reasons why I believe she will shine this year. The talent and depth on this Wahine team will be a benefit, not only to Shoji but to Tai as well, in more ways than one. Polly wants a crackah? Dude's new name is Polly. Whether you were there in Europe or not this past month, the rehash is again on Tai Manu. So she had a good tour through May. What of it? I'm willing to take the bet that beyond her mere athleticism, the mental toughness is not there for an entire season's stretch. Conference season is going to end with (my guess=1 loss) a complacent "let down". go figure it all out, but my confidence in the Hawaiian staff *since 2010* is shot to all heck. Poho! UH-fans can be so ete momona, yeah?
